In this video I offer some vegan advice and tips for those travelling to, moving to or living in France. I talk about my experience being vegan near Paris and the emergence of vegan products here.
In this video I just show some example of products we currently have in our fridge and cupboards, there are many other products we have bought and many others we are yet to find! Please post your favourite below!
My first big tip is not to forget that a lot of staples such as pasta and rice are widely available and generally vegan in France. Also do not forget about fresh fruit, vegetables, tinned fruits and veg and also jarred / dried products, these will normally be vegan too.
If you do have a kitchen and wish to make a recipe, you will likely be able to find cooking ingredients in French supermarkets.
My next point to make if that if you buy branded products in your home country that are 'accidentally vegan' and they are sold here, there is a possibility that they are made at the same factory and vegan in France too.
I also offer some tips about how to use Sojasun burgers/steaks for many different recipes for example, as a burger, on it's own with pasta, chopped finely to make a mine/bolognaise, into cubes for a stir fry or bake etc.
A further tip is to visit health food/ organic shops who will likely stock vegan products such as flavoured tofus, vegan meat substitutes, vegan stuffed pasta, vegan margarine etc.
If you are visiting Paris there is a fully vegan shop and online store called 'Un Monde Vegan' their website can be found here http://www.unmondevegan.com .
Another tip for eating on-the-go is to check out prepared salad/vegetable mixes which may be vegan, for example carottes rapées.
Final tip is to remember to look at instant noodles and Asian dishes which are often accidentally vegan.
Please do check ingredients yourself and contact companies if you wish.
