SQL with Oracle 10g XE - Using CREATE TABLE to Build a Table

08:17
In this video I use the CREATE TABLE command to create three tables: Books, Publisher, and Author. I use these three tables as sample data. The code I entered in is: CREATE TABLE BOOK ( BOOK_ID VARCHAR(4) PRIMARY KEY, ISBN_10 VARCHAR(10), ISBN_13 VARCHAR(13), TITLE VARCHAR(50), CATEGORY VARCHAR(15), PRICE DECIMAL(6,2), BINDING VARCHAR(1), PUB_DATE VARCHAR(4), AUTHOR_ID SMALLINT, PUBLISHER_ID SMALLINT ); CREATE TABLE PUBLISHER ( PUBLISHER_ID SMALLINT PRIMARY KEY, PUBLISHER_NAME VARCHAR(40) ); CREATE TABLE AUTHOR ( AUTHOR_ID SMALLINT PRIMARY KEY, AUTHOR_LAST VARCHAR(25), AUTHOR_FIRST VARCHAR(20) ); I have to create each table individually in the SQL commands window. This video is part of a series of videos with the purpose of learning the SQL language. For more information visit Lecture Snippets at http://lecturesnippets.com.

Oracle Issued A Statement Claiming HP Knew About Itanium End-Of-Life Plans

01:02
Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) issued a statement claiming that Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) knew all about itanium end-of-life plans before the company found out. The company stated, "We believe that HP specifically asked Oracle to guarantee long-term support for Itanium in the September of 2010 agreement because HP already knew all about Intel's plans to discontinue Itanium, and HP was concerned about what would happen when Oracle found out about that plan. What we know for certain is that Ray Lane and HP's current board members and Leo Apotheker and HP's current management team now know full well that Intel has plans in place to end-of-life of the Itanium microprocessor. Knowing this, HP issued numerous public statements in an attempt to mislead and deceive their customers and shareholders into believing that these plans to end-of-life Itanium do not exist. But they do. Intel's plans to end-of-life Itanium will be revealed in court now that HP has filed this utterly malicious and meritless lawsuit against Oracle." Oracle has a potential upside of 20.7% based on a current price of $31.16 and an average consensus analyst price target of $37.61.

Oracle Said It Will Cease All Efforts To Develop Technology Around The Itanium Chip

00:51
Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) said that it will cease all efforts to develop technology around Intel's (NASDAQ:INTC) Itanium chip, which reportedly took Intel and Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) by surprise. The company said its decision on the chip came after multiple conversations with Intel senior management, which made it clear that their strategic focus is on their x86 microprocessor and that Itanium was nearing the end of its life. HP issued a statement saying, "We are shocked that Oracle would put enterprises and governments at risk while costing them hundreds of millions of dollars in lost productivity in a shameless gambit to limit fair competition." Oracle has a potential upside of 14.6% based on a current price of $31.41 and an average consensus analyst price target of $36.

Oracle Issues Statement Regarding Autonomy Meeting (ORCL,HPQ)

01:11
This morning, Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) issued the following statement in regards to the claims that Autonomy CEO Mike Lynch never shopped his company to the tech giant prior to their $11.7 billion dollar acquisition by Hewlett-Packard. "Autonomy had been 'shopped' to Oracle as well, but Oracle wasn't interested because the price was way too high. Mike Lynch, Autonomy CEO, then publicly denied that his company had been shopped to Oracle. Lynch came to Oracle, along with his investment banker, Frank Quattrone, and met with Oracle's head of M&A, Douglas Kehring and Oracle President Mark Hurd at 11 am on April 1, 2011. After listening to Lynch's PowerPoint slide sales pitch to sell Autonomy to Oracle, Kehring and Hurd told Lynch that with a current market value of $6B, Autonomy was already extremely over-priced." Shares of Oracle are trading up 2.5% to $30.20, while Hewlett-Packard are also trading up over 3% to $23.92. Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) has a potential upside of 18.9% based on a current price of $30.15 and an average consensus analyst price target of $35.84.

How to Use VBA to Add a Date / Time Stamp When You Edit a Record in Excel

09:25
One of the most frequent requests that I get from my viewers is: "How can I automatically add a date / time stamp whenever I update, add, or edit a record in Excel?" Most viewers have already tried to use either the =NOW() Function - a volatile function - or some combination of Keyboard Shortcuts - neither of which are satisfactory procedures. In this tutorial, I demonstrate how to write a (short) Event-Handler Macro using VBA (Visual Basic for Applications). If you are "scared" or "intimidated" by the thought of writing VBA Code, you will find that my step-by-step tutorial will show you how easy it is to write this Macro. Try it! If you need to provide an "Audit Trail" for an Excel worksheet, this VBA Code will save you hours of time by automating the process. If you are an experienced user of VBA - I have good news for you! I show you the coding early on in this tutorial! V11 Updating Geography Data Type Field Automatically When a Longitude or Latitude Field is Changed 1

04:29
GM15 In order to perform a Geography search on a table, the table must have a special "Geography" field (supported in certain SQL databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, Postgress, DB2, etc.). The Geography field is a special type of field that contains binary data, so you can't update its value as easily in your SQL INSERT or UPDATE statement as you can for regular fields. However, it is highly desirable to automatically update the value in the Geography fields in a record whenever a longitude or latitude value is changed. This video shows how this is easily accomplished in a Grid Component. Alpha Anywhere automatically generates the appropriate Portable SQL statement to update the Geography field whenever there are changes to the longitude or latitude field on which the Geography field is based.

SAP Acquires SuccessFactors for $3.4 Billon

01:22
The largest maker of business-management software has made a big purchase that is increasing competition in the cloud-computing market. SAP (NYSE:SAP) has agreed to buy software company SuccessFactors for $3.4 billion in cash, paying $40 per share, a 52% premium on the company's closing price on Friday. With SuccessFactors being a leader in the employee performance software business, the deal will extend SAP's reach in the cloud computing market. Cloud computing is a way for companies to rent software over the internet rather than installing it on their own machines. SAP is promoting the idea as a safe way to outsource data centers and reduce the need for hardware. SuccessFactors has more than 3,500 customers with more than 15 million subscribers in 168 countries. The company is predicted to have $502 million in revenue in 2013. This announcement comes after rival company Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) bought RightNow Technologies for $1.5 billion dollars. SAP (NYSE:SAP) has potential upside of 3.6% based on a current price of $59.54 and an average consensus analyst price target of $61.67.

A Balance Sheet Example

06:50
http://www.accounting101.org/balance-sheet-example The balance sheet is easy to understand... once you understand why what goes where. The balance sheet example on this page, as well as the video, will help explain what the balance sheet is, how it's organized, and how to interpret the information on it. The balance sheet is an extremely useful tool for all users to quickly get an idea of how a company is doing. The balance sheet is usually described as a snapshot of a company's financial position. This is because the balance sheet is accounting for a single moment in time; not over a period such as the income statement. You'll notice in the example below, that the date is December 31, 2011. It basically means, "this is what we have, and this is who owns it as of today, December 31st, 2011." In contrast, the income statement would show a time period, such as "for the period ending December 31, 2011." As you can see in the example above, there are three major parts or sections that make up the balance sheet. These are: Assets Liabilities Owners' Equity Assets are the things the company owns. These are things such as cash, accounts receivable, inventory, prepaid insurance, prepaid rent, and goodwill. There are basically two classifications of assets; current assets and fixed (or long-term) assets. Current assets are assets that will be used within one year. Current assets include cash, accounts receivable, inventory, prepaid insurance, and prepaid rent. There are other types of current assets, but those are the most common. Fixed assets are assets that will be around for longer than one year. Fixed assets include buildings, equipment, goodwill, and land. Asset accounts have a debit balance. Liabilities are the obligations that a company has to repay. A liability could be amounts owed to a creditor, or to a vendor for supplies and inventory. Some examples of liability titles that you'll see are notes payable, accounts payable, wages payable, interest payable, income taxes payable, bonds payable, and unearned revenue. An easy way to spot a liability is anything that has the word "payable" in it. This obviously means an amount that still has to be paid, and will always represent a liability. Another type of liability is when a company receives payment for a product or service that they haven't delivered yet. This is called unearned revenue. Like assets, liabilities are also classified into both current and long-term liabilities. The same rules apply: a current liability is an obligation that has to be repaid within one year, and a long-term liability is an obligation doesn't need to be repaid within a year. Liability accounts have a credit balance. Owners' equity, or stockholders' equity is basically the portion of the assets that the owners of company own. Since assets=liabilities+owners' equity, the assets of the company are either owned by someone external such as a creditor, or they are owned by the owners of the company, usually in the form of stockholders. The account titles in the owners' equity portion of the balance sheet are usually common stock, preferred stock, paid-in capital in excess of par, and retained earnings. Owners' equity accounts have a credit balance.

Oracle to Court: Hewlett-Packard Was Underhanded In Settlement

00:47
All Things Digital reported that Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) is maintaining that the agreement it entered into with Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) last year over Oracle's hiring of former HP CEO Mark Hurd, is questionable since, at the time of the agreement, Oracle did not know that HP was near to hiring Leo Apotheker as its new CEO and Ray Lane, the former CEO and Ray Lane, the former Oracle COO and president, as its new chairman. In part of that settlement there was an understanding that a long standing partnership whereby Oracle would continue making software that runs on hardware using Intel's Itanium chip. Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) has a potential upside of 31.4% based on a current price of $27.87 and an average consensus analyst price target of $36.63.

OpenERP - SAP customer reference case: IJsselland hospital (short version)

04:26
Industry: Hospital - Health Care Client: Big hospital in the Netherlands, Rotterdam Business Challenge: Replacement of their current running EBA system, written in Foxpro. The main challenge was to have a full SAP inbound and outbound API with the main ERP system in the hospital, to have a single sign-on setup with Microsoft Active Directory (AD). The program has to organise the purchases of goods and services of employees in the hospital in a working shopping cart environment and has to have different approvement levels and setups. It also has been adjusted for CBRN procurement, as obligated in the law in the Netherlands in 2011. Solution: Net-Certo group has setup OpenERP v6 with a maintenance contract for this customer. The SAP inbound and outbound has been achieved via a direct python API interface. We installed OpenERP LDAP integration module for 1-on-1 communication with the Active Directory environment. As replacement on the EBA functionalities a custom made module for the customer has been made. Business Benefits: The hospital uses the core of OpenERP and in the future it can build on this core for extra modules. The project has been done with a rather small budget compared to other ERP systems.

How to config Excel for SQL queries

05:51
Sorry for the lack of audio, this was intended as a personal reference for myself and my team who were present for the demonstration. I'll create another, better one in the future. For migration of data from PSFT to SFDC, we need to extract data from SQL Server in a CSV format. Then use Dataloader to import/upsert data to Salesforce. CSV files are not the best solution, but here is an easy way to get data into Excel so that you can Save As.. a csv file that is ready to go into Dataloader. If you write SQL in a way that you alias the result set with the same names as the fields in Salesforce, then Auto-Mapping is your friend.

Editorial: Gartner Using Crystal Ball For Mobile Computing Forecast

06:23
http://www.netbooknews.com Gartner has come out with its latest round of mobile computing predictions and its clear that they must be using a crystal ball to come up with their predictions. Roberta Cozza of Gartner is a self proclaimed "Mobile Device" specialists who produces regular Press Releases making predictions on the long term direction of the mobile computing ecosystem. Let's take a look at September 10th, 2010 a mere 8 months ago. To remind you of the facts that were already on the tablet back in September we're shocked that she could have come up with the facts and figures below. Back then we already know about Windows Mobile 7, the problems between Nokia & Intel were already brewing and pretty much any smartphone hobbiest could have told you that Symbian was a dead end or at least loosing its luster. Even with these facts on the table Roberta made the following statement for a 4 year prediction: The worldwide mobile OS market is dominated by four players: Symbian, Android, Research In Motion and IOS. Launch of updated operating systems - Such as Apple iOS 4, the BlackBerry OS 6, 3 and Symbian Symbian 4, and Windows Mobile 7 - will help maintain strong growth in smartphones in 2H10 and 2011 and spur innovation.
