How To Tell If There Is An Oracle OS Memory Shortage - Webinar

01:18:37
How To Tell If There Is An OS Memory Shortage - Webinar An operating system memory shortage can cause very strange and intense performance situations. In this webinar, we will explore different ways to tell if there is a memory shortage and how this affects Oracle processes. Using a simple shell script, Craig is moving towards slowing increased memory usage. Then, we will watch what is happening using the vmstat, iostat and sar commands. And of course, we will also be monitoring the active Oracle sessions, key SQL statement elapsed times and key throughput metrics. As you will see, a memory bottleneck (rather, memory pressure) can cause some really strange performance behavior.

Oracle: How To Optimize Performance When The Top Event Is DB CPU - Webinar

01:18:42
In this webinar Oracle Ace, Craig Shallahamer, will demonstrate how to do an Oracle time based analysis including integrating the OS situation into our analysis and finding the true “top” SQL. This journey includes a trip into Oracle’s library cache, memory access control and some interesting ways to improve SQL statement performance. Overall performance sucks as far as the users are concerned. After months of meetings management finally wants you to get involved. You run an AWR report for one of the most intense hours and notice the top “event” is "DB CPU" followed by "cursor: pin S wait on X”. This is where the webinar begins!

Oracle CURRENT_DATE Function

01:54
https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-date-functions/ The Oracle CURRENT_DATE function is used to return the current date in the session timezone. The session timezone is the timezone that the current user is logging in from. This can be different from the database’s timezone. The syntax of the CURRENT_DATE function is: CURRENT_DATE No parameters are needed - just the function name. The function returns a DATE data type, and it includes hours, minutes, and seconds. This is good to know because the default display format for DATE does not include the time component, and it can be easy to forget. It’s different to the SYSDATE function as SYSDATE returns the date in the database timezone, and CURRENT_DATE returns the date in the session time zone. So, if I’m logging in from Melbourne, Australia, and the database is in London, England, then the CURRENT_DATE will return a date and time that’s 10 hours ahead of SYSDATE. It may be on the same day, or it could be a different day, depending on when I run the function. You can perform arithmetic on this function just like any other date value (e.g. CURRENT_DATE - 7 for 7 days ago). For more information about the Oracle CURRENT_DATE function, including all of the SQL shown in this video and the examples, read the related article here: https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-date-functions/

Authentication bypass in Oracle Access Manager (OAM) SSO solution

Delete, Drop, and Truncate Statements in Hive

06:41
Delete, Drop, and Truncate Statements in Hive Delete Statement: Delete statement is used to delete certain rows from a table based on a condition specified using the WHERE clause. The syntax is in below as highlighted. DELETE FROM tablename [WHERE expression]; Note: DELETE statement is available from hive 0.14.0 version and above Drop Statement: The drop table statement is used to drop the table altogether. The syntax is highlighted here: DROP TABLE IF EXISTS TABLENAME; Let’s quickly see how the managed table and external table differs when dropping the table. We have already discussed this in the “Two different types of hive tables” video. Take a look at it if you haven’t. For the managed hive tables, the drop table statement removes the metadata information as well as the data. The data will be actually moved to .Trash/Current directory. metadata will be permanently deleted. However for external tables, only the metadata information is permanently deleted and the actual data remains intact in the hdfs directories. So in the case of external table, if the table was deleted accidentally, then the table can be re-created by using the same schema and specifying the same location for the hdfs data directory. If deleting the external table was the intention, then after deleting the table using the drop statement, you may also delete the underlying hdfs data directory by issuing the hdfs dfs -rm command. Truncate Statement: Truncate table statement is used to remove only the data from the table. The table structure with the schema remains intact. Truncate removes all the rows from a table or partition. The syntax is highlighted below. TRUNCATE table syntax TRUNCATE TABLE TABLENAME;

Oracle CURRENT_TIMESTAMP Function

02:37
https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-date-functions/ The Oracle CURRENT_TIMESTAMP function will display the current date and time in the session time zone. Just like the CURRENT_DATE function, it uses the session time zone, which is where you logged in from. This could be different to the database time zone. The syntax of the CURRENT_TIMESTAMP function is: CURRENT_TIMESTAMP ( [precision] ) The return type of this function is TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE. The precision parameter is optional, and it lets you specify the number of fractional seconds to return. If this is omitted, it uses the default of 6. It’s different to the SYSTIMESTAMP function, because CURRENT_TIMESTAMP returns the session timezone, and SYSTIMESTAMP returns the database time zone. So, if I’m logging in from Melbourne, Australia, and the database is in London, England, then the CURRENT_TIMESTAMP will return a date and time that’s 10 hours ahead of SYSTIMESTAMP, and in a different time zone. It may be on the same day, or it could be a different day, depending on when I run the function. You can perform arithmetic on this function just like any other date value (e.g. CURRENT_TIMESTAMP - 7 for 7 days ago). However, it might be better to use interval data types so you can keep the original data type. For more information about the Oracle CURRENT_TIMESTAMP function, including all of the SQL shown in this video and the examples, read the related article here: https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-date-functions/

Cursors in SQL Part -- 2

49:31
A cursor is a temporary work area created in system memory when an SQL statement is executed. A cursor is a set of rows together with a pointer that identifies a current row. It is a database object to retrieve data from a result set one row at a time. It is useful when we want to manipulate the record of a table in a singleton method, in other words one row at a time. In other words, a cursor can hold more than one row, but can process only one row at a time. The set of rows the cursor holds is called the active set.

Welcome to Opal Oracle! Glad we found one another. For a private reading or common communication, please email: [email protected] You were fourth. This to me is an indication that you are focused on adult things heavily, mentally so take it easy. Aries has something to do with this also. I sense you are on a brink, so again, take it easy. You're preparing the boat to go out to sea. Funny thing is, the boat is ready, but you're not ready to head out to sea, yet. The water is kind of scary. What do we do when we are scared, accept the feeling. If you stay in fear and make BIG statements, we will be blocking ourselves from future options. Breathe. Relax, okay? Here is the Pisces reading I mentioned: https://youtu.be/TfUskXSJmLQ YELLOW: https://youtu.be/aw4MWUVEt4w (Think about what you want. Don't worry about how to get there.) You are safe. You are loved. You are protected. These are general. If you are looking for how you are affected overall, watch your sun. Ascendant can be seen as your sun shadow. He is considered by some to be one of the most successful investors in the world, and as of August 2017 is the second wealthiest person in the United States, and the fourth wealthiest in the world, with a total net worth of $76.9 billion. Born in Omaha, Buffett developed an interest in business and investing in his youth, eventually entering the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1947 before transferring and graduating from University of Nebraska–Lincoln at the age of 19. Buffett went on to enroll and graduate from Columbia University where he learned and eventually molded his investment philosophy around a concept pioneered by Benjamin Graham–value investing. He attended New York Institute of Finance to specialize his economics background and soon after began various business partnerships, including one with Graham. After meeting Charlie Munger, Buffett created the Buffett Partnership. His firm would eventually acquire a textile manufacturing firm called Berkshire Hathaway and assume its name to create a diversified holding company. Buffett has been the chairman and largest shareholder of Berkshire Hathaway since 1970, and his business exploits have had him referred to as the "Wizard", "Oracle" or "Sage" of Omaha by global media outlets. He is noted for his adherence to value investing and for his personal frugality despite his immense wealth. Buffett is a notable philanthropist, having pledged to give away 99 percent of his fortune to philanthropic causes, primarily via the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In 2009, with Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, Warren founded The Giving Pledge, whereby billionaires pledge to give away at least half of their fortunes. He is also active in contributing to political causes, having endorsed Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the 2016 U.S. presidential election; he has publicly opposed the policies, actions, and statements of the current U.S. president, Donald Trump. Marshmallow Marseille Tarot (2nd ed, Wondering Oracle, 2018)

06:50
Cardstock, lamination, printing, box, packaging. Shipped directly from a printer in China, it was part of a special deal of US$36 with free international shipping. I do not prefer this cardstock and/or lamination. But I do prefer this box. Which is leaps and bounds better compared to the standard tuck box of the first. The backs of the cards are very attractive although the backs of the first edition is as attractive to me in a very different way. The previous gentle, the current jazzy. The lamination feels and looks more like a layer of varnish, with what looks like horizontal streaks on the surfaces of the cards, not visible directly, but more so under a certain light. There are pressure marks visible on the front of the cards, consistent with patterns printed on the backs of each. Everything else is exactly the same as the 1st edition. No explicit statement indicating that this is a 2nd edition can be found anywhere on the box. It can only be identified so from overall designs, and memory of the aesthetic of the previous edition. Overall thumbs up from me, if you do not already have the first edition.

Placeholder column: A placeholder column is an empty container at design time. The placeholder can hold a value at run time that has been calculated and placed into it by PL/SQL code from another object. Using placeholder columns, you can: Populate multiple columns from one piece of code. You can calculate several values in one block of PL/SQL code in a formula column and assign each value to a different placeholder column. Thus, you create and maintain only one program unit instead of many. Store a temporary value for future reference. For example, store the current maximum salary as records are retrieved. Placeholder column: Questions: Maximum salary. Who is the maximum salary earner ? What is his/her department name? What is his/her department id? What is his/her city name?
