Titled "Fashion is a Beautiful Chaos," this is the first lecture of a three-part series introducing Polimoda's Master's in Fashion Brand Management. Here, our director Danilo Venturi unpacks the three major tipping points that have shifted today's industry — globalization, the internet and the downfall of ideologies — to decode how the brand manager remains relevant in a chaos-ridden society. The blurred distinction between culture and identity, he explains, coupled with a shifted perception of time and space, have caused chaos - and this, he argues, is the new order. Shot in Polimoda's main campus, Villa Favard, these lectures are part of a special BoF - The Business of Fashion media partnership launched in October 2017 to unlock one of fashion's most sought-after figures. ========================= More info about Polimoda Master's Course in Fashion Brand Management (The Deep Identity of a Luxury Fashion Business): http://www.polimoda.com/courses/fashion-brand-management/ Follow us on: Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/Polimoda Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/polimodafirenze Twitter - https://twitter.com/polimodafirenze LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/polimoda Subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/polimodatube

The German-born designer Karl Lagerfeld has died at the age of 85. He was a designer, an artist and a fashion icon. For this sad occasion we recommend a portrait DW made in 2014. No living fashion designer, let alone a German one, was as celebrated as Karl Lagerfeld. On September 10, 2018 the man with the trademark ponytail and sunglasses celebrated his 85th birthday. From dawn to late morning, Karl Lagerfeld designs for Chanel, Fendi and his own signature brand - a combined workload of up to 15 collections a year. A workhorse who never takes breaks or even a vacation, he is also a photographer and filmmaker. His passion for fashion was awakened by a Dior show in Hamburg in 1950. Four years later, at the age of 17, Karl Lagerfeld was hired as an assistant to Pierre Balmain. Karl Lagerfeld recounts his beginnings in the industry, as well as his upper class background and childhood in Schleswig-Holstein. Karl Lagerfeld was greatly influenced by his mother, whom he describes as his personal style icon. Karl Lagerfeld's caustic comments were notorious and dreaded by those at the receiving end. As an artist, Karl Lagerfeld worked in several media, from pictures and photographs to book illustrations and videos. The documentary of 2015 follows Karl Lagerfeld to exhibition openings, during the hectic preparations for his fashion shows, and at photo shoots in Paris as it seeks to uncover the man behind the mask. _______ DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. 10 Fashion labels commonly worn by the royal family. Subscribe: https://goo.gl/Hnoaw3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In addition to being royalty, the members of the royal family are also widely regarded as fashion icons. Whenever one of them makes an important appearance, that piece of clothing is sure to skyrocket in value, before selling out immediately of course. But what brands do the royals love to wear? You might be relieved to know that some of them might not be totally out of your price range. Meghan Markle wears plenty of expensive things, but also loves the more mid-range clothing from Aritzia. Kate Middleton trusted one of her favorite labels, Alexander McQueen, with making her now famous wedding gown. Not to mention the many everyday dresses she owns from them. Even the Queen has her favorite items, including Burberry coats and Hunter rain boots. Even Prince Harry loves a nice cashmere sweater from the brand Everlane. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheTalko Twitter: https://twitter.com/thetalko Instagram: https://instagram.com/the_talko ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.thetalko.com/

53% of Fashion Businesses fail within the first 4 years, according to Entrepreneur Magazine. In this video I cover 2 Topics: 1. The trap or the reason majority of first-time fashion designers tell themselves when they want to be in the fashion business. 2. A simple exercise that you as a future fashion designer must you do minimize your risk so you don’t add to clothing line failure rate and increase your chances of success. There are a number of reasons why clothing brands fail but in my experience, the #1 reason I have seen, especially for a new fashion designer is that they do not realize what is involved in running a fashion business. They often confuse their passion for fashion with fashion business. When you want to start a clothing business, its important understand that the goal of the fashion business is to make money. This tutorial lists how to find that difference and what are the costs involved in starting a fashion business that will cut in to a fashion designer's profit margin and could make the difference between a successful & failed fashion designer. ****************** Other videos: ****************** How to start a clothing line under $67? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JKL3xIc0Oc 8 Ways to Fund Your Clothing Business https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udT54wcRW-c

Get full show notes here: sfdnetwork.com/41 *************** Tricia runs her fashion studio, Hello World Fashion, in DTLA. With more than a decade of experience in the industry designing, sourcing and doing production, she can help you set up your fashion brand successfully, from the entire design through development process, including sampling and production. One of the things I love most about how Tricia runs her studio is her dedication to designer’s successes. While many sample rooms or development houses will just take your money and do what you tell them (even if they know it’s a bad idea or won’t work), Tricia will give you her honest constructive advice to help you set up your fashion brand for success and sure you make the right decisions throughout the entire process. She also is completely transparent about her process, suppliers and the supply chain (she’ll help you source your fabric, but won’t keep that supplier a secret from you – whaaat? YES!). Tricia shares tons of lessons she’s learned in her industry experience including when / why you want to source locally versus offshore, whether you should use stock or custom fabrics, and how to think about wholesale and retail pricing to set yourself up for success. YOU WILL LEARN: * Different business models to gain success with your fashion brand * When and why you’d want to develop custom fabric vs working with stock materials * What the design to development process looks like * The importance of a tech pack whether you’re making 20 units or 20k units * The most important questions you need to ask your suppliers as a startup designer * Options for protecting your designs (and why you shouldn’t always worry about it) * How to think about scaling and planning for the future GUEST INFO AND RESOURCES: * Hello World Fashion: https://helloworldfashion.com/ * Schedule your free consultation with Tricia: https://helloworldfashion.com/free-consultation/ ENJOY THE SHOW? Fashion is a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style in which a person dresses. It is the prevailing styles in behaviour and the newest creations of textile designers. Welcome back to the channel, the fashion awards are upon us (10th of December) so I thought now would be the time to give my predictions on the brand that would win the category 'brand of the year.' The nominees are : Off-White (Virgil Abloh) , Prada (Miuccia Prada), Gucci (Alessandro Michele), Burberry (Christopher Bailey / Ricardo Tisci) and Balenciaga (Demna Gvasalia). I reviewed the fall winter and spring summer collections of each brand as well as some other collections. Write in the comment section what you think the best high-end brand of 2018 was out of the 5. I''m also hoping one of my favourite designers 'Craig Green' wins british designer of the year for menswear. Streetwear Apparel, Fashion and Model Marketing is based on the imagery of the products that are being offered. The best way to give the value of the clothing line is through marketing the touch and feel of the fabric on the model. This is done best through what we like to call a brand film.

Developing a signature style is one of the best things you can do for your fashion brand. Having a signature style means that your fashion brand can create brand awareness consistently. Contrary to what many fashion gurus may say about being different and new with each new collection (which is a great thing in itself), having a signature style that comes through in subtle ways through every piece of fashion item that your brand produces, makes for a brand that would stand out. Onefootball goes behind the scenes with BALR - the football culture movement created by former players for life off the pitch. We meet one of the football fashion label's three founders, former Netherlands international and Ajax and Spartak Moscow midfielder Demy de Zeeuw. From his path from his terrible injury after a clash with Martin Caceres of Uruguay in the 2010 World Cup semi-final to luxury boats in Miami, de Zeeuw's brand is now making waves for football fans and players like Dani Alves and Fernando Torres alike. ► Liked the video? Let us know by subscribing to our channel: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToOnefootball BALR. is a Dutch brand founded in 2013 by professional football players Demy de Zeeuw, Eljero Elia, Gregory van der Wiel and internet entrepreneurs Ralph de Geus and Juul Manders. De Zeeuw came up with the concept during one of his long car trips when he played for FC Spartak Moscow in Russia. BALR. sells their products online and in store. In 2014, a pop-up shop was opened in Amsterdam. This was the first time products from the brand could be purchased in-store. The first store opened on November 4, 2016 in Amsterdam at the Kalverstraat. The label gained traction in 2014 when the Legends shirts were released. The shirts, with names of legendary football players like Dennis Bergkamp, Zinedine Zidane and Diego Maradona and their birthdates were a success. Since then, a lot of professional players have been spotted with BALR. products, although they have no affiliation with the brand like players have with many other brands. ► Liked it a lot?
