A Lesson In Crafting Your Signature Style

474 ratings | 23251 views
It took me years of struggling before I was able to create my signature style. Once I nailed it, I created a formula that women could easily replicate. I want you to experience what it’s like to feel like “you” in everything you put on. No more feeling out of place, thinking you’re too dressed up, or too dressed down. I want you to be able to shop without a laundry list of questions running through your head like, will this make me look fat? Old? Too young? Or like I’m trying too hard. Once you nail that signature style piece, you are freaking GOLD! I have the heavy in the middle body type, I like vintage styling as I'm feminine romantic type, 41 yo. How do I pull it off without looking frumpy? I don't want to be pencil skirt, blazer 1 button daily "as a boss" but that seems to be how "boss" is always defined
Anna Rehbinder (2 months ago)
What about v neck drapy blouses or tops
Deborah Walker (7 months ago)
Shaneika Williams hey! Just busting in on the convo, sorry! As I read your comment I saw an outfit. *Wide leg trousers, cut just above your heel. *Comfortable, closed toe, gently pointed heels - a block heel or refined block heel. *A soft fabric body suit - blouse style, to keep everything smooth. *A mid-thigh length cardigan/ jacket - sleeves pushed up. *Layered fine gold necklaces. *A statement watch or bracelet. *Complimentary disk stud earrings. I just saw that on you based on your photo! Going back to watching videos!

I have loved every series you do and this is no exception. One way people might "get this" is it if they think about what they'd want first in terms of clothing and makeup if they just lost everything they owned for some reason (hurricane, flood, earthquake, tornado, fire, etc.). Every area of the county has some natural disaster they could immediately relate to this. Please know I am not suggesting in any way that you aren't doing a superb job of helping anyone who doesn't understand the message sent by how you look on the outside is extremely important and definitely the most obvious part of you as a person, until people get to know you and don't have to base their opinion on how you look when they first see you. I get what you're saying and this is actually more for about this part of my comment - I see so many YouTubers and surely celebrities and others making tons of money and being sent tons of stuff as PR  they clearly are never going to use and could easily give it to a charity that helps victims of natural disasters put their lives back together, and I think you'd identify your signature style very, very quickly when you can get your head to that dreadful reality so many face of losing everything they own overnight. I also know the staples are far more important in those situations (water, food, shelter) BUT when I see these YouTubers getting so much stuff they never review, test, or wear, and who clearly have far more than they will ever use, even once, I always think about how easy it would be to box it up, send it to a charity, and help those who really need it and would greatly appreciate it. I've said it on so many channels and no one ever, ever does that; I don't understand why. It's easy and quick and it can make a HUGE difference in so many lives - imagine what 10 wardrobe basics you love and even just two items of makeup you feel more confident in would do for these people. I don't know how to get that message out but you just did a great job of explaining why it's so important - especially for people who actually do "get it." I keep trying to get this message out any way I can but with no channel and subscribers, it just never happens so I'm sorry if this sounded cruel or hurtful in any way; that is definitely not my intention. If I'm sounding negative, rude, or anything else, please tell me so I can change it.I get so much use out of your advice and teaching and you are giving people so much by doing all these videos - it's truly amazing generosity on your part and it's one of the many reasons I like your videos so much. I would love any advice you have for me on how to help people, who almost always claim to be generous and are the first ones making a bit deal about how unfair things are doing nothing when they are the few who could easily do something without even missing the stuff. Sorry, I know this is off topic.
Heather Bedell (1 year ago)
What I really want to say - brutally honest is - either put up or shut up but stop telling me how sad and sorry you are and how the world should be more fair and a better place, and people should be nicer, etc., etc. when you don't do things you can, which is far more financially than I can to help it. I'm not saying they didn't earn it and I am so happy for those who are fortunate enough to have more than enough of everything - I get it and I'm happy for them but I am so tired of all this talk by celebrities when action is so often taken by people who really are making room in their budgets or time in their lives (like you are) to help others, not for the credit - because you care. It's obvious in every video I watch of yours.  I'm not a mean person or a jealous one and I really am happy for people who work so hard and make it big. I just can't put that together with so much complaining from them about the rest of the world when they do nothing themselves and I know it's not everyone and a good number give a huge amount back - but there are also way too many who expect someone else to do that. I guess they just forget most of them wouldn't be where they are if their subscribes or viewers weren't also there. Sorry, that was one heck of a rant when I really just wanted any thoughts you had on the topic.

what if I feel most comfortable in "edgy basic" but never skinny jeans and never anything with heels?
Anna Rehbinder (2 months ago)
Think pointy or almond shaped boots ( Chelsea boots perhaps) a bit leather , perhaps an animalprint ,, belts ,bags ,jewellry which supply edge and sharply tailored stuff .
Nadine Martranchard (9 months ago)
artsy?... :-)
Brittany Norma (1 year ago)
HoneyedHylian that can still be a look. Perhaps you'd want to wear some tapered black pants? Skirts and tights? Blazers with metal details can add some edge. Basic shoes- flats, loafers, wedges...there are plenty of options

I love this series Lauren! Is this from a facebook group? Looks so fun :) I've had so much fun developing my personal style through out the years, and getting so many compliments on my style in public as well as showing my boyfriend your videos, I'm finally am getting through to my boyfriend that ripped jeans and old hoodies is a big part of the reason why he isn't taken seriously at his job... so thank you Lauren! and praise the fashion gods :) i really am enjoying these live videos, they're fun and natural, you have an awesome sense of humor that comes out in the live videos, and i love watching them in conjunction with the other more structured videos you do. I've been watching your channel more since you've been doing these live videos. Blessings Lauren!
