3:23 love that zoom!!
HealthyAndrew (3 months ago)
I love realization zooms in movies. It adds so much tension and gives you chills down your spine. When it zoomed in after Anton Chigurh turned off the lights I got goosebumps

Why didn‘t he just shot Chigurh at the time he stood before the door? It‘s absolutely clear that it was him lol

When he sees the shadow come and go from under the door... I would shit myself

But who would sit there behind the door? You know he will bust the door down or shoot thru it. The second I saw those feet outside my door I shoot right thru the door. You know he's tracking you. You know its him.
ayokay123 (3 months ago)
Anton should have been nicknamed "The Octopus" since he managed to hold the tracking device, bolt gun, tank, and rifle all at the same time.

He called the front desk and got no answer. That's when he knew that yeah it's about to go down.
M Whitelaw (8 months ago)
Shoulda scrounged through that box where he found it.
Terry Thomas (8 months ago)
Really excellent sound design!
TG (8 months ago)
every little piece of this movie was awesomely directed - did you observe that tracking device was kept in between dollar bills while all others are $100 realistically people might do the same instead wasting big bills cutting for the device
Prince Revolver (8 months ago)
When Anton unscrewed the light bulb I thought Moss was done for.

Anyone else think to throw the tracker into the toilet?
Terry Thomas (8 months ago)
Too big to be flushed. Just smash it.
Caesar (10 months ago)
This scene and the following shootout in the streets is one of my favorite sequences in any movie. Obviously movies will never be completely realistic, but the sound design of the gunshots and the way the rounds impact combined with the absence of music adds so much realism and impact to the whole sequence.
Jan S (10 months ago)
Loved this scene, almost shat myself!
Arcalias Giants (10 months ago)
The blinking red LED is a dead giveaway, need to cover that with a little piece of electrical tape.

why would you ever place yourself directly in front of the door?
SavoPaddy (11 months ago)
Surely you would sit at an angle to the door not face-on?

Lesson I have learned from this movie: if you ever find a brief case full of money.... check for a gps tracker 😂
Nasar Khan (2 months ago)
Bannett T (11 months ago)
I remember the first time I saw this... I kept saying, "He needs to check for some kind of tracker. Why isn't he checking the money for a tracker??"

2:55. Llewelyn should have fired right then through the door and then hauled ass.

So this is basically a modern day remake of The Good The Bad And The Ugly.
KingAdrock420 (1 year ago)
0:32 Right there are the most infuriating 10+ seconds in this otherwise nearly flawless film. Moss finds this device and just... stares at it, as if he somehow has NO FUCKING CLUE what it is. I have a _very_ hard time resisting the urge to scream "IT''S OBVIOUSLY A TRACKING DEVICE YOU DUMBASS, *SMASH* THE FUCKING THING ALREADY!" But no... he does absolutely NOTHING like a complete moron, while Chigur uses his tracker and _slowly_ walks right to Moss's door.
goodbi99 (1 year ago)

Jayson Pida (1 year ago)
Wonder if it meant anything that the tracker is in the bundle of one-dollar bills and not the hundreds -- 'where's the tracker?' 'it's in the stack of singles'...........

Tyler Overbeck (1 year ago)
This scene pisses me off. He sits back on the bed in front of the door
Rob Berlingieri (5 months ago)
Tyler Overbeck Yeah. It also pisses me off that he doesn’t even close the briefcase. It was open the whole time, but then when he grabs to it run away and throw it out the window, it’s suddenly closed and sealed.

Why didn't he just leave the tracking device in the vent at the other hotel and take the suitcase? All he had to do was leave the tracking device somewhere else.

Gaming_Sarabia67 (1 year ago)
Why didn't Llewellyn destroy the tracker that was planted in a briefcase full of money?
Fox-Jake (1 year ago)
If I was Llewelyn I would've thrown that tracking device on a moving Freight Train so Anton would be on the far side of the state by the time he finds it.
George Lopez (1 year ago)
KingAdrock420 I believe that in that moment (when he realized the existence of the tracker and that Anton had alreay arrived) that he might as well use this opportunity to detele his attacker. May be the only real chance he has to get the jump on him.
KingAdrock420 (1 year ago)
+Winter Beeds Except Chigurh then keeps using the tracker to lead him right to Moss' door, so no, it wasn't too late. Disabling the transponder would have at least bought him some time. He could have smashed it, or simply just pull out the battery, and then climbed out the window to escape. He probably wouldn't have been shot to shit if he'd done that.
Winter Beeds (1 year ago)
It is too late for him anyway he found out the tracker the minute anton arrived at the hotel
Most Hated (1 year ago)
Fox-Jake Bow about smashing it to shit so they get no signal.
Bruno Ferenc Segedin (1 year ago)
Part of what makes this movie great is the absence of music
Jorge Callico (2 months ago)
If it was me and I saw the flashing light on that damned transponder? I'm immediately out the window and down the fucking fire escape. All shortly after tucking the device under the pillow. That and making it look like someone was still sleeping under the covers. It's called, "I'm GONE dude"!
Machinen Kanone (11 months ago)
A great film just doesn't need a sound track , i think.
Chad Holzhuter (1 year ago)
Bruno Ferenc Segedin Oh, there's music.. very subtle, ambient music. It's definitely there.

It's a top film but I read a good review by someone on imdb which annoyed me at first but had some truth in it. They said it was a slasher film for pretentious people!

Totally LOVE this movie, these scenes, but sorry does not and CAN NOT ever compare in intensity to the Deniro/ Walken Russian Roulette scene(s) from Deer Hunter!!! (just re-watched both right now to make absolutely sure I'd got that right.. WOW, TOTALLY!!!)...
Darrin Stark Jr. (1 year ago)
The minimized soundtrack in this movie is fantastic. It adds so much tension, reminds me of, The Thing from 82....good stuff.

Should've blasted Antons ass through the door when he saw his feet!!
B0SS (11 months ago)
Alan Peters Moss didn't want to risk shooting a random person. He didn't know it was really Anton behind the door.

Garrett Griggs (1 year ago)
When you think about it, if he had never told anyone about the money and hadn't returned to the scene, as well as remove the transponder, I wonder how else they couldve found him. I guess they could always go to the property owner and find out who may have been out there. Its interesting when Chigurh says ' It doesnt make any difference where she is' because when you think about it, there are plenty of ways someone could be tracked down by someone who is willing to do basically anything.
KingAdrock420 (1 year ago)
To me the biggest mistakes Moss makes is returning to the scene. and not SMASHING the transponder the moment he found it. Both of these IMHO are so unthinkably stupid they broke willing suspension of disbelief. First off he shouldn't have ever needed to go back to the scene at all, because who in the hell goes hunting in the desert without bringing any *WATER?* Any sane person would have had a canteen or something, and hence could've given this obviously dying man some water, if for no reason other than to soothe your conscience. But then there's this scene. He knows there must be some explanation for how Chigurh is able to stay right on his tail, searches the satchel and finds the transponder; which in a later scene he confirms he knew and understood exactly what it was. So what does he do when he discovers this device that's making it impossible to lose Chigurh? Smash it? Pull out the battery? Flush it down the toilet? Try something he might have seen in a movie, like throw it out the window into the back of a moving truck? No. He just... _stares_ at it. Meanwhile Chigurh arrives at the hotel, kills the clerk and then proceeds to keep using the transponder signal to lead him right to Moss' door. While it's true Chigurh had already found the place, Moss could have bought himself a good amount of time by disabling that thing once he found it.
black lechter (1 year ago)
You have to remember, Moss is a bit out of his league here, he's no hit man. He's a simple man. In simple man fashion he would have started spending that money on big ticket items. A car, a house, new set of tools or guns. Chigurh would have followed the money, It wouldn't have been hard in such a small town. Then he would have paid Moss a visit.

Tiger Lily That's still a good point about the character development. I hadn't considered that.
Blaine Erp (1 year ago)
Geovanny Ayala honestly I've always thought this same thing he could have tossed the tracker and not gotten 12 gauge pellets in his shoulder
Tiger Lily (1 year ago)
Geovanny Ayala sorry went over my head.
Geovanny Ayala (1 year ago)
Tiger Lily I was making a joke. Cohen brothers, along with the actors, crafted a marvelous film. Well acted, well directed and well written.
jmr1068204 (2 years ago)
He should have taken the transponder and thrown it as far as he could out of the window, making sure that it landed on the pavement or the sidewalk somewhere. He could have still gone out of the window and gotten away when he knew that he was still in the hotel.
Logan Flowers (2 years ago)
I'm glad this movie doesn't have a score. (Except for the Gas Station scene)
Tyler Payment (3 months ago)
amirhmem. 180 a “score” is an original soundtrack specifically made for the film. Not using already made songs but creating new ones that match the tone of the film

u can hear the desk guy being killed too
Mark Woldin (2 years ago)
I love this movie and I don't mean to carp, but really this is the one great logical error. No way he would let this happen. If I found that case, the first thing I would have done would have been to transfer the money into another bag. But I big sports shoulder bag, move the money and ditch the bag in the nearest garbage can. As a cabdriver I would sometimes amuse myself with the fantasy of a mobster dying of a heart attack in the back seat, and he expires with a case of money just like this beside him. In my scenario, played over and over across the years, the money NEVER stayed in the case. I went into a bodega, bought garbage bags, transfered the money (the poor mobster having been left in the weeds out near JFK), and then moved again into said sports bag later in the evening. Now if a fool like me knows that, how would our hero fail so foolishly? And why is he seated straight across from the door? Is that smart? Is that what an experienced hunter or soldier would do? Why is he not set at the entering angle -- off the right of a door a bit? He would not have been hit. Or down behind the bed with the gun trained propped on it? Nothing about the case makes any sense. But as De Niro says in Ronin, What's in the case?
Rob Berlingieri (5 months ago)
Mark Woldin I also think it’s an error that he doesn’t even close the briefcase. It was open the whole time, but then when he grabs to it run away and throw it out the window, it’s suddenly closed and sealed.
Daniel Cannata (1 year ago)
Well the transponder was in the bills, not the bag. So if you find such a bage, you best check those bills super fast. THEN ditch the bag
Patrick McGlynn (1 year ago)
Mark Woldin in his defense he was not the smartest guy
Patrick McGlynn (1 year ago)
Mark Woldin better just buy a couple safe deposit boxes
David (1 year ago)
That scene is honestly hilarious when I think about it. Getting belted with the lock and just decides to randomly shoot a loud ass rifle at the door in the dark. Like I'm sure the assassin was choking his own laughter down like, what a goof this guy is! Too funny, although it could've used a vampire.

I wonder if Anton was using his TEC-9 pistol when Moss was in the pickup truck.
Hi There (1 month ago)
Sam Fisher considering how professional he is he could’ve switched to slugs. I think he was using the tec 9 though.
George Lopez (1 year ago)
Thegigafliga Tec tec tec nina is a playa
Nathan Drake (1 year ago)
Yeah I miss read the first coment. He's using his shotgun in the hotel but he is indeed using his TEC-9 when Moss get's in the truck. But for the info a shotgun is still pretty accurate at 30-40 yards. it's not like in video games when they're good for nothing past 10 yards. Most of shotguns are still effective between 75-100 yards. The spread is not that big.
Sam Fisher (1 year ago)
lol definitely not, those shots were accurate with no buckshot spread, and he was firing from 30-40 yards away so def not a shotgun
Nathan Drake (1 year ago)
He's using his shotgun.
WarLord27753 (2 years ago)
