Tagua carvings

32 ratings | 9356 views
Tagua nut is know as vegetable ivory. It is the seed of a palm like tree (Phytelephas Aequatorialis Macrocarpa), which grows in the tropical forests of South America. Tagua nut color, hardness and feel is similar to a natural ivory, so it is used to make carvings, beads, buttons and other decorations, which look and feel as if were made of the natural ivory.
