These people use the same fucked up arguments as were used against abolition of slavery: "Defenders of slavery argued that the sudden end to the slave economy would have had a profound and killing economic impact in the South where reliance on slave labor was the foundation of their economy ..." It is just a bit modified slave economy and in this version masters don't even have to feed and house the slaves.

Tracy, w/out them working cash registers the SIX Waltons couldn't possess wealth equivalent 185 million of "fellow" Americans. I worked one year in a store of the original 3 i alone remained and when i asked for more they agreed - less than a dollar extra. These christian husband and wife forced me out. Gets better now in 2017 Trump health plan includes 52 billion in a tax break for said family.

Why do people listen to millionaires that live in huge homes and have more than they could ever need pretending to defend poor people? Walmart family is bad because they have too much money! Russell is good because... he... has too... much money... But not as much as walmart kiddies!!!
Jo Brown (1 year ago)
I can't believe Stuart said that Walmart is a creative brilliant company!! The reason they got to the point they are at is due to good old fashioned exploitation. Plain and simple. Having sweat shops over seas to create their products, pouring billions into anti union propaganda and buying politicians through enormous 'donations' plus not paying employees properly in the states. That's not creative nor brilliant, its the oldest trick in the book.

The rhetoric of 'creativity' is so transparent. No surprise that David Cameron was a big fan of the 'creative economy' (i.e. pointing to creativity as magically profitable and exempting nation-states from taking responsibility for their citizenry).

Neither Finland, Sweden or Denmark have a minimum wage and yet they are consistently in the top 10 countries in the world for standard of living. However their governments didn't try to dismantle the unions like in the UK. They are not obsessed with class status and money. The difference between the poorest and richest is much less than the UK. They also have high taxes for the wealthy, maximum salary ratios between the least and highest paid employee. UK has to decide, is it worth having two range rovers on your driveway when the roads, nhs, schools and public transport are crumbling and the litter wafts across every street and old people die in the winter because they can't afford to turn on the heating.

So I don't agree that there should be a higher minimum wage BUT I DO AGREE THAT BIG CORPORATIONS SHOULD PROVIDE BETTER BENEFITS INCLUDING PAY RAISES. Coming from someone who worked as a cashier for four year for a grocery store similar to Walmart, you don't get shit no matter how hard you work. I was the fastest cashier, always on time and tried my best to provide good service but wasn't even offered or even allowed a 50 fuckin cent pay raise. PAY SHOULD BE EQUIVALENT TO YOUR VALUE. If you're a good cashier I believe you should be entitled upwards of $20. Also, better benefits are a must. If you work for Walmart full time you should be allowed 'x' dollars of free groceries a month!! thats all. k bai
Maureen K (1 year ago)
Organic fruits and vegetables should be free to all. They would keep people out of hospitals, thus reducing our health bill. Single payer health insurance is also the answer.

Russell, no wonder big corporations want half the country in poverty, that way they have a perpetual workforce they can use whenever their current workers demand anything. When you keep half the country in poverty you will always have someone who is willing to do the job for less, because less is more than what they currently have. It's almost like a giant conspiracy.

These comments would make for an interesting read but for Americans, with their stupid grammar and useless punctuations. lol! Most of you speak better than you spell, many spell exactly the way they speak. The brilliant, articulate ones publish falsehoods (e.g books about Trump, Carson, Kiyosaki e.t.c) It's frustrating! Then I don't know if some of you have ADD or you are just excited to be heard. I'm talking of the infantile digressions from the subject at hand to flying cats and some utterly unrelated babble. When one crosses over to the Brits: they totally hate Russell, all of them, and never have anything positive to say about him. How will this imagined revolution take place; haters on one hand and morons on the other? Sad! Note: This is totally exaggerated. The author does not believe people are morons, haters or both except convinced otherwise (by any senseless replies to this). Some nice comments below are testament to this caveat

and to agree with him, yes if you wanted that much money you should've invented Walmart, or some other business. the founder took risks and those risks are still real but so are the reward that's the American dream you can start your own fortune but don't make it by working for someone else. if you want money you have to pay it dangerous and make it!

"BUT THEY CREATE JOBS" hahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaLike you said before Russ: FUCK EM!! We'll create our own jobs (really, re-create the jobs and small local businesses that were taken from us). anyone can create lots of jobs and create tonnes of profits doing nothing. but not as a competitor in a monopolized industry like Walmart. because they've had a HUGE head start, hence why no one else can now compete. heres the formula, not including profits made from slave manufacturing labor and tax dodging. ready for the huge surprise??? pay 100 employees the money that 50 should be paid, so you can pocket half. repeat dozens of times in each state. the more stores you open and jobs you "make" (after taking), the more you can dictate minimum wage and gain support for your "job creation." the best is when you give the sheeple a huge number headline, like "mcdonalds looking to create 10,000 jobs before end of year."
Sally Seatkicker (2 years ago)
i'd love to know what more she does or did than an overqualified recent graduate who cant yet find work in their field that entitles her to earn at least triple what they earn. OTHER THAN have "good looks" and probably family connections to the owner of wherever she works.

most of Walmart part time employees are forced to be part time because walmart purposely cuts their hours so the corporation won't have to give them health insurance benefits. Walmart is famous for tracking employee hours and cutting work hours if employees approach the hours needed to be eligible for company health insurance.
snare1979 (1 year ago)
+the gooch I think Liza was making an exclamation of surprise, not a sarcastic comment. I think part of the system of control is to keep us in this defensive state where we always assume that someone is trying to belittle us. Rise above it and we can communicate with each other better and no longer look for trouble where none exists. 😊
D James Morgan (2 years ago)
+Liza Tanzawa YES THEY DO! There's nothing like being a multi-billion dollar company selling foreign made products, but on top of that paying your employees poverty wages, requiring "flexibility" where it pertains to availability, AND then forcing said employees to use those shit wages to buy their own uniforms from you. Now it's obvious by your response that you can't comprehend my point and therefore you're dismissed! Please try, if you can, to refrain from further correspondence with me! I have neither the time nor the patience to communicate with people like you!
Liza Tanzawa (2 years ago)
The Gooch omg, Wal-Mart employees have to BUY THEIR OWN UNIFORMS FROM WALMART? It's like a sow devouring her young!

Notice that when the Liberal said look at Germany, it has Unions and it's booming, the Fox news anchor said, no it's not, it's almost in recession... so he basically calls the guy a liar... it seems to me no matter what he said to the Fox news anchor, the anchor was primed to shoot down... no matter what he would say... this was about winning an argument for a corporate agenda, and not about truth.

Most people have a problem getting paid minimum wage because they are trying to raise children. They had kids before they were ready to take care of them. So, they shame Walmart for not taking on their responsibilities and making up for their mistakes. Walmart is there to provide poor people with low priced goods. It isn't there to pay you enough money to raise a family when all you do is sweep fucking floors. It's up to you to learn a skill so that you can raise your family. And if you seriously can't manage to find a good job, that is truly unfortunate. But it's not Walmart's fault!
dechinta (3 years ago)
I worked at Wal-Mart in the mid-80's.   Women with 20 years retail experience started at $3.35 an hour.  Men with no experience, straight out of high school started at $5 an hour.  When we questioned that, we were told that men could lift heavier things.  At the time, Wal-Mart closed at 9pm.  I worked 11pm-7am.   One night, I spent the entire night building displays of 5 gallon buckets of paint and 50 lb. bags of dog food.  I went back in the back at one point to get more pallets of dog food and noticed the guys were kicked back pricing fishing lures, etc.  I guess those little red and white round floats were awfully HEAVY. And of course, they work part time.  Because if they worked full time, Wal-Mart would have to give them health insurance, sick leave, vacation time.
aminozuur (3 years ago)
Russel, as a libertarian and business-owner I truly believe the minimum wage should be abolished. Lots of people will find a job, and almost nobody will make what is currently the minimum. People grow and make more over time, but at least they have that stepping stone of getting that (first) job.
MpX b4x1000 (3 years ago)
One of the most outdated concepts is this idea of a "Minimum wage" It was nothing more than a short-term incentive to stimulate economies after the war, and - still - today we endorse it in every aspect of our society..... It angers me even further that the Governments in power consider it a, "Privilege" to work. On top of all that disparaging nonsense, you 'earn what you are worth' And you are supposed to tolerate that and be happy about it. (?) What a sickening mentality. We need a revolution! Thwart what is, and then...collectively decide what shall be! ...Before it's too late...
Ndutim Enang (2 years ago)
Ecosse Mbot it has never really worked that way, check through history. The Zionists have succeeded because they have thought through their goals and worked tirelessly at their objectives to arrive the world at where it's at today. So if you think you can throw them out without replacing it with a machine much more efficient and sturdy then you must be a joker. I think Russell knows this and that is why he doesn't really commit to effecting the change even though he's very capable of devising a very good ideology. It takes a lot and requires the "Messiah complex" and honestly, I think he secretly wishes that Jesus and the holy teachers would live up to their promise to return or intervene somehow. I do respect him and understand his inertia. So know this, the system will fight back even from the grave so make sure you have an annihilation plan completely resurrection-proof and public reorientation strategies that will redirect the mass thinking like they do... You gotta be maniacal all the frigging way!

These two Fox fuckheads talking about "supply and demand" for jobs...Fox has enough bigots talking shit into the camera without the need to hire you for a lot more money than the average Wal Mart employee receives. "For all due respect, ringing a cash register" And what the fuck do you do? Perpetuate the Rupert Murdoch ideology of basically saying "fuck the poor" by staring into a camera and reading what's put in front of you? You get paid all that money for, with all due respect, reading words.

+Savanah Butts - RBE, (Reosurce Based Economy) much more easily done with automation, though no political will what so ever for it, so it would have to be a transition at the grass roots which will take some time. Meanwhile There is the "Guaranteed Basic Income" for all thing. Would replace Food-stamps, Social Security, and pretty much all such programs with additional taxes on companies that automated. (We're going to need to do this anyway as more and more companies automate, those who don't simply can't effectively compete with those who do).

And now David Cameron wants to get rid of tax credits somehow expecting companies to raise wages to compensate. And if they don't? Of course he is willing to take that risk in the name of the economy, because it's not his family that goes without food when wages aren't enough. I will support an end to tax credits when the minimum wage is increased to a living wage. Everyone has a right to financial stability if you are in a job. It is not a privilege.

the worst bit is Russell saying 25 grand but it isn't as that is $25000 which translates to slightly under £16000 a year
