How A Boutonniere is Made - https://gentl.mn/2hjCpty SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. Edelweiss Boutonniere https://gentl.mn/2i9FUlZ 2. Shantung Striped Green, Purple, and Cream Silk Tie https://gentl.mn/2yW3vAA 3. Navy Blue Gray Suede Unlined Leather Mens Gloves https://gentl.mn/2gOF8hE 4. Caramel and Dark Burgundy Shadow Stripe Socks - https://gentl.mn/2yRbYp1 So what are the 11 must-have items for an elegant classic gentleman? 1. Unlined gloves. The advantage of unlined gloves is that it is very thin and looks very elegant. Also, during the transitioning season, you don't need a cashmere lining or alpaca lining because it would simply be too warm. 2. Knit Ties. I like them because they have this really nice texture and today, you can find lots of knit ties on the market. Traditionally, the ones with the thickest texture are the cris de la soie ties and they have the crunch in them, you can hear the crunch when you move it back and forth slightly. 3. Suede boots. Now, boots are in general ideal for fall because they are lined with leather most of the time and they are not super warm and at the same time, they keep you warmer than a regular pair of oxfords or derby shoes. 4. Vest or waistcoat. The term is used interchangeably and it just adds another layer to your outfit. 5. Tweed jacket or sport coat. The beauty about tweed is that it's comprised of lots of different colors and because of that, it may look like a solid from afar, but in fact, there are lots of different colors combined. 6. Quilted jacket. it is so great because it keeps you warm, at the same time it is lightweight and if you choose a length that covers your jacket, you could easily wear it on top without looking too formal. 7. Flat cap. It is a wonderful hat. It keeps you warm, it is stylish, it can be worn by younger men, even teenagers, as well as older men, and it just has this typical seasonal appropriate character. 8. Wool accessories. I know most of the time, ties are made out of silk and that is just fine; at the same time, maybe a pocket square in wool, or a tie, or a flat cap, simply helps you to create a softer look in your outfit that is very appropriate for fall or autumn. 9. Corduroy pants. I know some people may think they make you look like an old professor in College or a school teacher, however, I think corduroy is wonderful for the fall season because first of all, it is very warm and just seasonally appropriate. 10. Pastel colored dress shirt. I know most men have white dress shirts but with a tweed coat, it is just too stark of a contrast. Instead, if you go maybe with an eggshell color, something with a pale orange, maybe a pale pink, or pale blue, it really helps to tie the outfit together. 11. Lightweight knitted sweaters, ideally in cotton. Usually, you don't need the heavy woolen cashmere sweaters until later in the season and so you want a finer knit just to help keep you warm, at the same time, you want to look stylish. #fallmusthaves #fallessentials #notsponsored --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? Adding a women's glove in a six button length would be great ! Flesh colored, in an unlined kid or other thin leather. Hard to find !
Mary Cahill (12 days ago)
I am drooling over your burgundy gloves -- perfect for Fall, and the button is a nice touch. There is something "wrong' with this outfit -- I finally figured out it's just too much colour. I think you should go with a brown corduroy, not caramel, for the pants.

I’m subbed to this man for the memes
chop 362 (28 days ago)
This guy has some nerve given style advice, he happens to dress like a 70 year old man.😁😁
He looks like the guy who farts in the elevators at court then walks out like nothing happened as you walk in & you realize it was him but by then it's too late to do or say anything. his style reminds me of a 1920's paper boy

You look like a German penguin

I usually wear sports clothes but this make me want to wear Suits
Vincent (1 month ago)
Wear a flat cap as a teen if you’re trying to get bullied by literally everyone
dosetti (1 month ago)
We have from -5 to -35C in the winter, what would you wear? Autumn very often windy and it feels like subzero, with a flat cap no chance of survival.
Scott Patton (1 month ago)
Dress like that you’ll most likely get knocked out
KarhuR30 (1 month ago)
I can just feel the sweat running everywhere
Ramy K (1 month ago)
He is knowledgeable about clothing but unfortunately his suggestions are for much older men and is not applicable to today's young men.

I rather dress like him and look like an 80 year old, according to the comment section ( which I do actually, I always wear a suit) than dressing like my age, 23 and look like some modern hippy without style.

You tore the button of those beautiful gloves

Lol I want all of his outfits! They are super dapper
nickdakidkid (3 months ago)
Anyone else see that he broke the button on his glove 1:41? I'm sure their quality is very good, I just find it funny that this video is promoting these gloves and.... "Oops. Guess we'll just leave that in there." Lol
Shukin Andjivin (3 months ago)
I like his taste in clothing, but it was really Sherlock Holmes' style of classic ivy college meets hipster style that had me rethinking about the style of wardrobe I wanted to wear. I like Sven's, as well; it's very classic and it says "I've arrived, financially".
P.CapesTV (3 months ago)
Old man clothing you look like a senior citizen
hedders (3 months ago)
Also known as looking like an adult, and not a 15 year old boy.
Prom Vatanapradit (3 months ago)
Love these videos. But like watching Downton Abbey, dressing and acting like them doesn't really work in most social settings :D
Man Talk (3 months ago)
I love a lot of what your suggestions are, but part of dressing well and being dapper is understanding the audience. As a college student, I would be mocked, instead of being considered a gentleman and a leader, if I dressed this way. I love how you keep history alive, but it may be good to communicate the importance of context to your audience.

In las vegas fall is like an indian summer. We have very warm falls. Then very mild cold winters
Christopher Foley (5 months ago)
Most of his gear/ clothing, odd vests, old style tweed jackets would be more appropriate for a 70+ year old man
Eóin MacLean (1 month ago)
In my family, we (men) tend to dress in more classic and semi-formal clothes than most people. That’s how I was raised. As far as tweed, my family has Irish and Scottish heritage (from my mother’s and father’s side, respectively); my grandfather had tweed in his wardrobe, as did my father, and so do I. It may seem “odd” to some, but I’ll argue a lot of it comes from one’s heritage and how they were brought up.
eastweymouthchris (1 month ago)
People who are very dogmatic about how men should dress have a tendency to dress like old men.
hedders (3 months ago)
Which is expected, since a lot of these styles where popular 60-70 years ago. Doesn't mean younger guys can't make it work.
Rev. James C (6 months ago)
I’m finding it very hard to buy into corduroy. Somebody needs to sell it to me.
Gentleman's Gazette (6 months ago)
Check out our guide about it

l don't know abaut men deforme, but, as a woman, l love the way you mix and match textures and patterns. Compliments. tuo have a really good tasta. You make it interesting, don't looking cheap as many guys that try to be modern. If guys are affraid of looking like and old man, l think, is just question of mixing and matching. Complimets again.

Fenryr Greyback (1 year ago)
Although the overall style of the outfit is more mature because of the earthy colors and the textured fabrics, I think the flat cap makes you look younger. They make everybody look younger in my mind because they remind me of newsboys.
sub222marathon (1 year ago)
This isn't everyone's style of dress. Definitely a vintage, classy element that doesn't work for everyone, but if it works for you, this clip is exceptional. I pick and choose from his suggestions to have a style that works for me.
zunedog31 (1 year ago)
What are your thoughts on waxed cotton jackets like Barbour makes?

The nicer way is to call his style classic.  The honest way is to call it grandpa style
Dorian Emin-Jeong (1 month ago)
I want to be a grandpa then
Shukin Andjivin (3 months ago)
The honest way is . . . you're jealous you don't have the bread to dress like a proper gentleman, but, then again, you are most likely NOT a gentleman.
Chad (1 year ago)
You should make a video for “black people”. I feel like some of this stuff doesn’t work for us.
Robert J. Artlife (1 year ago)
DO you know any style of dapper that goes great with german Jackboots?
dipro001 (1 year ago)
Raphael, I ask this as a fellow Minnesotan. Can you can you make a video on staying stylish in deep winter? Despite my best intentions, I find it difficult and even slightly dangerous to go out without my Columbia or thick Northface when it is -40. I collected a few which allows me to try to pull off a look that is almost like a quilted jacket setup, but it would be lovely to have your expert opinion to make them look as stylish as possible while staying safe in the long upcoming months.

Waltski Then ask a tailor to make one for you. They are ridiculously cheap in eastern europe.(low price superb quality)
Chris Norton (1 year ago)
There are times where his advice is spot on and others where I feel like he’s trying to make me look like an 80 year old man.

Chris Norton Exactly 😂

You have to tell me where you get your vests, those are are awesome especially the velvet one and the blue dark jean looking vest
OB3 STA (1 year ago)
Have you ever thought about tailoring your pants so they would be slimmer trough the thigh and tapered at the ankle. I know its diffrent from the old school style you go with. But remember back in the day only royalty have tailored clothing, so the way i see it your style sticking to the traditional style, just fancier.
Reese Cripe (1 year ago)
OB3 STA I think his pants look best how they are. It's just opinion.
Nitin A (1 year ago)
Your trousers never fit u properly they r too roomy n baggy. U need to work on Ur self a little to get in shape.. most of the clothes in almost all of ur videos don't fit u well... An honest observation.. sorry but I couldn't sugar coat it.
Jamesthacoolcat99 (1 year ago)
His clothes are more classic so they are tailored in that way. Slim fit suits are not for him because they are not so classic cut.
DongleSlongBog (1 year ago)
His clothing isn't intended to be slim. The majority of it is very much inspired by classic tailoring - And his suits fit him impeccably. I do agree that his trousers aren't always perky in the pleat, and are sometimes baggy... But whos are?
Reese Cripe (1 year ago)
Nitin A it's not about "proper fit." It's about opinion and in my opinion they look best how they are now.

Shukin Andjivin (3 months ago)
Orrrr, someone who is a very well-dressed gentleman who wants to keep his hands warmer or who may be going out for a drive in his sports car.
RexExLiberi (1 year ago)
I am sorry to say so Sir because from what I can tell you have an otherwise impeccable sense of classic style, but the cardigan you are wearing at 10:25 is absolutely horrendous and does not fit you very well either might I add. That said you are a constant source of inspiration, keep it up!

zewill (1 year ago)
so very true. its not for his body type. look at the bottom buttons... in all honesty not many people could pull off that one.
Gatis Karlsons (1 year ago)
As always - nice video! Are you going to make any style tips for winter? Where I'm living it is not unusual to have a snow and real frost after a couple of weeks.
K.D. Thomas (1 year ago)
Nothing wrong with corduroy....but then, I am a retired high school teacher.
Jawad Rafiq (1 year ago)
I think if the cord trousers were a bit of a closer fit they would look much better. Agreed though, I have a cord 3 piece suit and it looks great, I aman early 30's brown dude though.
GeneralKoekwous (1 year ago)
i dont like tea so if you were to take that out of the tweed it'd be my favourite if you know what i mean.

ThatSpyGuy (8 months ago)
He owns a clothing company. Don’t think you can get a bigger closet than that
Brynner (1 year ago)
taylor I can to post the same thing.
Bobby Reed (1 year ago)
Such good tips, and those overcast park locations with the stunning trees look like a million bucks. Nice work, seeing you out of the studio for a change.
DeJuan McGuire (1 year ago)
Great video! I especially appreciate number 10, a pastel dress shirt. Until I watched your previous video on fall outfits, I had thought my pastel blue, pink, and yellow shirts would not be of much use in the fall. But they look great in my fall outfits for the reasons you described.
pikkuhakki2 (1 year ago)
I think you left out flannel trousers. I've found that flannel is such a nice fabric for fall and winter due to how warm and comfortable it is.
Jamesthacoolcat99 (1 year ago)
pikkuhakki2 he mentioned flannel last year. Or the year before.
Kevin Scott (1 year ago)
What is your feeling on moleskin pants for fall and winter?
I don't wear a lot of colors this time of year. I unconsciously wear a lot of black in fall and actually go _towards_ looking more dark. The colder it gets and the further along the year ends, my overall mood changes, and it isn't very lively despite all the holidays.

Thank and you Sven for another wonderful video! I really enjoy your outfit breakdowns at the end of your videos as of late. I am hoping to add wool to my wardrobe in the near future, so this video was exactly what I was waiting for!
debonairgallant (1 year ago)
I enjoy your videos, however they are not very practical where I'm from since its summer 11 months out of the year here in Texas. Do you have anything for us since wearing multiple layers would lead to intense sweating and look out of place. Or should we just continue on with the summer wear?
Milan Clefas (3 months ago)
Try polos with chinos, a nice pair of shoes and sunglasses can also do wonders. If you're buying a watch stay away from leather bands as they will only soak up your sweat and start to smell after a couple of months. If the variety of clothing you can wear is limited, try to play more with different colours and colour combinations. This is what will make you stand out from the crowd.
debonairgallant (1 year ago)
Zachary Sims I appreciate your response and will take into consideration what you said.
Zachary Sims (1 year ago)
debonairgallant for your location. It will be more a case of understanding seasonal color trends. It may feel like summer 11 months, but the seasonal color trends change. Vests or waistcoats may also be a good choice. It is an extra layer with little heat capturing potential. Fall is my favorite time of year. The color pallette is subdued, so you can incorporate more colors without being too garish.
Beement (1 year ago)
Like the video lol
