Oh, I totally have to try both of these. Btw, what's the adorable white bottle in the background?
The Perfume Pros (4 months ago)
That bottle is one we picked up a few years ago for display purposes. We’ve never put any perfume inside it but kept it to look pretty on The Perfume Pros shelves! You can get some lovely empty perfume bottles from various places online that look great on display.

Great video ladies!! I love autumn purely for the fact that I get to change my fragrances. I have rediscovered Cinnabar by Estée Lauder. Absolutely gorgeous in this weather and very unisex too. A shame it's hidden away on all the Lauder counters, in fact I had one consultant thank me for introducing it to her!! :)

Ahh....here is the chypre video and I do believe I watched it last year. I looove Agent Provacateur. It was my intro to modern chypre. I feel so confident when I wear. Glamorous even. Chypre florals are hard to pin down. It's hard to "run across them" in the wild. I have to seek them out online and even then often testers are unavailable where I live.

My favorite fall fragrance is Mitsouko by Guerlain. Next would likely be Beloved by Amouage. Both are classified as Chypre fragrances, but Beloved is more of a floriental to my nose. Both are beautiful!!! I also love Femme Rochas but it disappears very quickly on me, that is very disappointing:( I have heard it's been discontinued, if so that is unfortunate. I need to try Rouge Nocturne...it sounds amazing.
Mrs Press (2 years ago)
The Perfume Pros I hope Femme Rochas does get brought back (if it has been discontinued) and it would be even better if it could be made as an edp. It is one of the most stunning fragrances I have ever smelled, but it does not perform well at all. Fingers crossed...a girl can dream!
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+Mrs Press some lovely choices there, Mitsouko is particularly amazing. We think you might be right that Femme Rochas is not in production at the moment but we have heard that the brand is under regeneration so maybe they will start production again soon, it would be such a shame to loose it forever

Mine is Ralph Lauren Romance.

+krosa2471 ah: a lovely choice; brings back memories of when we first started working in store!
Giggra (2 years ago)
The ONLY thing I like about the winter is my cold weather scents. Right niw I am wearing Malin and Gotez's Dark Rum, Versace Euros por feme, Pocco Roban's Olympia and Versace Crystal Noir. Soon I will break out the Botega Venta (my fav) and Tom Ford Black or Velvet Orchard. Can u please make a video on female leather perfumes? :-)
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+Giggra some nice suggestions of what to wear there - thanks for sharing. Georgina used to work with the Marlin & Goetz brand a few years back and she still loves that Dark Rum scent. Leather scents are great for winter time. We will add that request for another ingredient video to our list.

What's the Perfume called shown on top of the orange box in the background? Xx
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+Lina VBAR it's not a perfume unfortunately just one of a few decorative bottles we've collected
Bywater Wino (2 years ago)
Also I love this educational type video. More please :)

I think I've discovered I don't like vanilla in perfume. Would amber also give that sort of baked goods vanilla aroma? All Opinions are welcome.
mikka m (1 year ago)
Not all vanillas are baked goods ones. There are plenty great woody vanillas. :)
Bywater Wino (2 years ago)
The Perfume Pros - thanks. I actually don't want the gourmand thing. I love the resinous-y type scents. I just really hate sweetness. I thought amber wouldn't be sweet in that way but all the scents I've trade with amber base - vanilla or not - seem to have that same sweetness on my skin. To be fair lots of fragrances smell sweet on me. I guess I'm just trying to figure out what it is I don't like. I'm in the wine business and think I have a well trained nose but the vocabulary is so different. For example the word "powdery" meant baby powder (sweet) to me but a patient fragrance boutique worker showed me samples of "powdery" scents and now I know it doesn't necessarily smell "sweet". I really appreciate the feedback. It's such a help in my ever expanding fragrance journey I'd love more educational episodes. These explanations were terrific.
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+Bywater Wino we think that Amber is an interesting and sometimes misunderstood ingredient in perfume. Often amber and vanilla are used together and both have a warmth and a sweet quality. In general though, Amber alone in a perfume doesn't evoke that patisserie or baked goods scent. It's generally resinous, rich and soft at the same time; and is the base of the oriental family of fragrances. If you are seeking an alternative to vanilla and still want that "gourmand" comforting enveloping warm emotion perhaps try scents with honey, chocolate, caramel or almond notes.

Love your videos, I think my favorite fragrances are the Chypre, and you're right with the oak moss & resins, that's what makes them unique. I'm very glad I found your channel.
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+Fay Moussabeck thank you 😊
Audrey Ooro (2 years ago)
Love the video! Great job as usual...very informative and always love the detailed descriptions you give! Please do a video on which perfumes that are appropriate for the women in the workplace. Thanks!
Audrey Ooro (2 years ago)
You are sooo lucky ☺! Thank you, and again great job ladies!
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+Audrey Ooro thank you for your suggestion. I guess we are lucky in that we can wear whatever perfume we want at work but we know it's not the same for everyone so we'll definitely add that to our list
Meagan Dahl (2 years ago)
Wonderful video! I love this particular style of perfume video - lots of examples on a specific family. I agree that Agent P's initial spray is rubbery and reminds me of old-fashioned baby doll heads but it's one of my favourites, so glad you mentioned it!
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+Meagan Dahl glad it's not just us! That is such a funny connotation to have but perfumes can definitely bring back the strangest of memories
Alia Crai (2 years ago)
I love ❤️ you girls!!! You have lovely videos, very informative and you two are lovely!! Keep up the good work! Hugs and kisses

Chypre fragrances are my favourites - although they were very popular in the first half of the 20th Century they hit an 'old lady' snag in the latter half. Definitely feel we're due for a revival of this fragrance type - they seem to embody a masculine strength but an ultra feminine character simultaneously. AP is a favourite - would describe as a "sexy dusty rose". Reminds me of a cultured sexy woman dressed in vintage 1940s dresses.
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+IssyKew lovely description. It definitely conjures up that boudoir, glamorous and opulent feel
doublemama13 (2 years ago)
I love Cinema and La Collection Yvresse by YSL
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+doublemama13 yes! Yvresse particularly is a great example of a chypre, on the fruity side though
nadia montasser (2 years ago)
Hiii brilliant video! i used to own an old perfume by Guerlain called l'instant de guerlain it smelled like old perfumes from your description i feel that it falls under the chypre category no? @theperfumepros
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+nadia montasser we think it's officially categorised as an oriental floral but that's probably just because the term Chypre wasn't so fashionable at the time. It definitely has all the characteristics of one
edreamsincolor (2 years ago)
Hi! I have Agent Provocateur Maitresse, I'm happy to find out about the grenade reference, it makes me like it even more. Now I have to go try the original version. The bottle and the red coloring of and your reaction to Rouge Nocturne makes me want to blind buy it...sigh...
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+eve123w8 #enablers! Let us know what you think if you give either of them a go
Candace MacL (2 years ago)
Lovely outfits ladies : ) I have not smelled these. Some of my favourite chypres are Mitsouko and perhaps Chanel Cristalle.  I enjoy In Bois Vanille and many others at this time of year as well.
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+Candace MacL they sound like great picks for this time of year, especially Mitsouko which is like luxurious velvet
Tommy (2 years ago)
Great video! Could you also do a similar autumnal/winter fragrances for males?
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+Swoley Servant sure, we will add that to our list
fushiakayak (2 years ago)
Well now I must buy the Agent.... have read about it for years but have never had the nerve to purchase without trying it. With your review feel confident I will enjoy. :)
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+fushiakayak it really is a modern day classic. Very distinctive and a true signature scent. It was unavailable in the UK for a few years and people were going crazy!

Clarissa Martinez (2 years ago)
Great video! Is it true that the Agent Provocateur has a resemblance to the old formula of Dolce & Gabbana for her (In the blood red box)? That one is a Floral Aldehyde. It was my signature scent, but they reformulated it and the new scent has nothing to do with the old version. Such a shame!!!, that original was incredible. I was looking for a perfume that resembles that scent in Fragrantica.com and they suggested Agent Provocateur many years ago. I like Chypre, and I love floral aldehydes, woody musk and Oriental Florals. My favorite notes are Tuberose, orange blossom, rose, sambac jasmine, egyptian jasmine, musk, cedar, leather, wood, amber and vanilla. LOVEEE your videos......keep on!
Clarissa Martinez (2 years ago)
IssyKew I found it in Ebay. It is floral and pretty elegant.....mature for lots of people😜......I still love it!
IssyKew (2 years ago)
A work colleague in 2001 wore that red D&G and it smelled fabulous. Have been looking for it also as it really made an impression. Smelled more like an 80s big floral to me though and nothing like the AP. My memory could be mistaken though?
The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+Clarissa Martinez neither of us were wearers of that original D+G unfortunately but from what you've said you like we think Agent Provocateur could definitely be for you! You should give it a go and let us know what you think. Thanks for your lovely comment btw 😊
Sara Manae (2 years ago)

The Perfume Pros (2 years ago)
+Sara Manae yes definitely agree with going for the perfume that fits your mood too, maybe we'll have to do a video on that!
