I recently saw some guy write a whole page of why Anton DID NOT kill Carla Jean and I came back to confirm, the check for blood on his shoes.. of course he did

She broke his power when she refused. When she refused she implied that his actions are all on him. “The coin don’t have no say, it’s just you.” He was not the same after she made him realize that he is not a personification of fate nor destiny. His actions are all on him and that’s why he got in a car crash afterwards. Carla Jean made Anton accountable for his actions not a coin just the same as Anton had made her accountable for Llewellyn’s choice. Carla had the most dignified and honorable death among everyone in the movie. She stayed loyal to Llewellyn and stood her ground even if it resulted in her death afterwards.
ShadowChaser (3 months ago)
"This is where I'll offer. You bring me the money and I'll let her go. Otherwise she's accountable, same as you. That's the best deal you're gonna get. I won't tell you that you can save yourself, because you can't." Contrary to what a lot of people seem to be believing, Anton was not shaken by Carla Jean's refusal to accept the coin toss. I would even go so far as to say that he was disappointed that his principles weren't accepted. He was willing to let fate play a role here, because she was merely a victim in all of this, but when she refused it was right back down to business. He made a promise, and he intended to make good on it.

Great ending to an absolute masterpiece of a film.

She speaks real sexy

I think after she refused to the coin toss, he made the decision to toss the coin himself to decide if he'd kill her or not. He obviously did since he checked his shoe for blood. Damn.

hat er sie tot gemacht ?
Astrobrant2 (4 months ago)
She didn't realize that he would actually honor the outcome of the coin toss.

"I wouldn't worry about it" is so simple, so effective.

Want to be blown away? Check out Kelly MacDonald (Carla Jean)'s accent on her Black Mirror episode.
CHILL FROST (5 months ago)
The best scene ever existed. He killed Carla Jean and yet.. she stabbed Anton's mind that caused him his senses while driving.
A random fella (6 months ago)
The fact that he checks his shoes prove that she didn’t make it out of there, though I wish we got to see her die, whenever this dude kills it makes my heart stop and the silence is dreadful and I love suspense so you know, I would of liked to seen him kill her.
Zaman Yolcusu (6 months ago)
What happened to her? Did Anton kill him ? He looked his shoes but is it possible that He did not kill her ?
Will Chen (6 months ago)
Nobody ever realizes this - Chigurn HAS shown her a form of sympathy. Despite aiming fulfilling Thanos's 'promise' - he at the very least deviated from simply killing her to letting a coin toss decide.

He kills her in the book. He kills her here too.

Hands down best and my favorite movie ever.
Omar Rochet (7 months ago)
Was she killed or not?? 😱
O Solorio (7 months ago)
No... but i gave my word.
Christopher Twiggle (8 months ago)
"I got here the same way the coin did." As in, the only reason he was there was to kill her, and the coin came with him. The coin was just an option that he gave her, and she basically threw it out the window. And that was that... as they say.
McDonald's Big Mac (8 months ago)
Spoiler alert: Moss getting killed off screen was a complete abomination.
Why didn’t she just run as she saw him??! She had 7-10 seconds to run while he was sitting. And as I written in the text, he finished her. He came here not to play in a coin toss. He came here to kill her. And I think he did.
OZYMANDIAS (8 months ago)
Anton Chigurh is the human embodiment of death.
Patrick Hutton (9 months ago)
So did she survive?
Patrick Hutton (9 months ago)
@Pksoze hmm.
Pksoze (9 months ago)
He checks his shoes for blood stains. Watch the scene where he kills Woddy Harrelson's character...he puts his feet up to avoid the blood.
Patrick Hutton (9 months ago)
I couldn't see any hint to go either way.

This was my favourite scene, simply because it showed a different side of Anton. He had given his word to kill her but decided to still give her a chance of survival because deep deep down he felt empathy (only a small miniscule fraction though). I know he ended up killing her but that's who he is, he is a man of rules and principles and he must stick to them.
Giant sack of hot garbage (10 months ago)
Shooting her the same day she buried her mother. What a demon.
He made a decision when he "gave that word" to her husband, which was quite merciless as she had no responsibility for her husband's actions. Tossing a coin for what? This is another decision. You can toss for one shot to the leg, for a rape, for anything. He tosses it for a kill. Her decision is probably the most noble one.
ECDdanielDCE (10 months ago)
Despite being witty, I wonder why he actually meant by 'I got here the same way the coin did?'
Truth Hurts (10 months ago)
If you enjoy this film I’d highly recommend reading the novel. The film is incredibly faithful to the book but there are some great passages of Chigurh’s dialogue that didn’t make the final cut in the movie. Such a good book too!
topppps (10 months ago)
Did Anton kill the guy from accounting?
niaj4 (10 months ago)
This might sound far-fetched, but I wonder if it's on purpose (it occurred to me last time I watched the film, anyway) : in the scene right before this one, Ellis tells Bell : "you can't stop what's coming. Ain't all waiting on you. That's vanity." Now, in this very next scene, Carla sits down, literally facing her fate, with her back turned to... a vanity. Coincidence ? Looked to me like an echo of the previous bit of dialogue, anyway.
Kristopher M (10 months ago)
niaj4 Brilliant.
theodore jub (11 months ago)
So he stomped her fucking head and cleaned it the best he could and was checking for blood.
NackWeasel (1 year ago)
Just like Woody, she calls him crazy.
Caligula's Iterations (1 year ago)
His face when he said "Call it" the second time had so much hope in it, simply because he hoped that he didn't *have* to kill her. He knew that she'd done nothing wrong, except being with the wrong person at the wrong time, so he wanted her to live. Saying that it was the best he could do was true, as it was the closest he could come to compromising without his system of principles crumbling away from beneath him. He knows he's crazy, because Carson told him and he evaded the statement, and Carla Jean told him and he seemed to... accept it. Her death was unnecessary, except that his principles required that he keep to the word he gave.
thfFromRussia (6 months ago)
second time when he said "call it" i guess he was a little wondered and pissed that she doesn't want to use this precious chance to save her life
andrewf0784 (1 year ago)
I got here the same way the coin did. That is some serious mental gymnastics...
Haytham Kenway (1 year ago)
Damn man seeing a beautiful girl like that, even if I was a psychopathic killer I wouldn't be able to kill something so beautiful.
TheBroadwood (1 year ago)
I think that after she refused to call, he called it for her. Remember she said, that the choice is not on the coin, but on him. He on the other hand still could turn it around like the choice is still on the coin with him calling heads or tails for her. He called wrong, so he killed her.
Cardio Chang (1 year ago)
I love the way he sighs everytime he is about to pull out the coin toss. It's like *sigh* I don't know why I'm so reasonable to these people but I guess I'll give them a chance............

You see such a scary stranger sitting in your house... you RUN!
Tyson Wheeler (1 year ago)
She is the actual hero of this story. Er... Heroine. She refuses the petty games and machinations of men. Long live Carla Jean!!! I mean, she dead, but she's the only one to strike fear into Chigurh's heart, you can see it on his face. God I love this movie.

If everyone on this section was putting out facts this movie would be a bigger mind-fuck than the 1st time inception watcher.

The truth is the one thing which it has to be believed in, but sometimes it is so true that we cant just realize it, so we call it crazy or insane.
kyokogodai (1 year ago)
I just love how so many people love this fucked up film. How people glorify it, despite it being nothing but trash. No wonder society is trash, and soon to be gone altogether.
Connor Vaughn (1 year ago)
Why not deceive him into not paying attention to you, then just stab him in the throat with the nearest object........ I'm not a military person, but ask any Marine or Navy seal. Any object is a weapon. Just get within 5 feet of him somehow, wait for him to not pay attention, then kill him. For fucks sake, you can even take an old 1980's car lighter, bend the edges and use it is a small twisting knife. He isn't as intimidating as he seems, and he can be killed if you aren't a dumb fuck.
Alberti Bass (1 year ago)
I love how his eyes glow the third time he says, "Call it."
Pretty stupid to not take the 50% offer.

"I buried my mother today, didnt pay for that either" -I wouldnt worry about it...lol the moment you realize its over

Kudos to the Coen brothers! They're Jews and all Jews are geniuses. So glad that they're pumping nihilistic violence into our young people. My son is going to be a school shooter, and I'm going to be on CNN. I'll make a ton of money on a book deal!
PONYBOYonline (1 year ago)
If all Jews are geniuses, then you must be the furthest thing from a Jew.....
#1 The film barely made an R Rating; parents are expected to control their children's access. #2 Most violence, aside from domestic violence, is nihilistic; the perpetrator and victim have no meaningful connection. The concept of meaningful violence is obtuse.

I love this film and any film Javier Bardem is for that matter he is very good at strong complex characters
Ricky Andreou (1 year ago)
Poor Kelly Macdonald didn't deserve this fate. This was the only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth about this film even though her death was only "implied" in the film.
eric harvey (1 year ago)
I buried my mother today; i haven't paid for that neither . I wouldn't worry about it.
Him and two-face would get along very well

So how long was the coin travelling to get there?
amer islamovic (1 year ago)
She sucked his dick and then he left and had slobber on his foot and wiped it
Matthew Williams (1 year ago)
Anton was probably relieved that she didn't call it. It's basically the one time in his life that he goes back on his word to kill someone and gives her a 50/50 chance. After she won't call it he kills her and thinks "man, if she had called it and gotten it right then technically I would have lied". Complete psycho.

DarKKnightt07 (1 year ago)
what did he kill her with though? I didn't see his shotgun.
De Veelvraat (1 year ago)
Folks, you can stop with all this speculation about what happened. It's pretty clear: he grabbed her by the pussy and then blew her brains out after fucking her brains out. I'm just saying.
Disgusted Batman (1 year ago)
For those that may have been confused about what happened at the end, yes he did kill her. Every time he made a kill he would always check his boots to make sure blood didn't get on them.
Raphael Bulaong (1 year ago)
I would've took her in the back and screwed her.
Wiser72 (1 year ago)
In the book he kills her because she wouldn't give him a BJ.
