When your mom tells you these things it seems as if she's ancient but when you listen to a cool stylish woman say these things, it clicks.

It was never my style up until now. :) and it's only sometimes. Now when I'm in secure relationship I feel like it's nice to have some sexy dresses. I try to buy expensive looking sexy clothes though. I don't think I would wear some of my dresses when I'm single. But I enjoy my man enjoying them on me. :) If I was single I'd wear classy outfits since it's the message I want to send and the type of man I want to attract.

I'm 26 and I literally JUST evolved my personal style. My faaaaaaaavorite shorts used to show the bottoms of my butt cheeks and literally none of my tops were full-length 😂 I thought that conservative style was boring! However, I recently relocated to NYC and am looking to build a professional career, and I'd also like to settle down and have a family and whatnot... I don't think the kind of men I'm looking for would appreciate a wife that looks like an Insta model. I love the aesthetic in photos, but in real life, it took a lot of work. When I go to work now, I don't have to suck anything in! My clothes fit well without special underwear, and I don't have to pull or tug at anything when I walk around town. I've come to the conclusion that any bar/club that makes me feel uncomfortable for transitioning my work wear day to night, is probably too young for me. I can't compete with 18yr olds! Lol we're not going the same places, so they can have the velvet ropes. I'm really digging sensible shoes *shrug*

What about Bulky Bethany? She wears bulky accessories that make her look like she's a Christmas tree.
Ana Kasbar (4 months ago)
Unsubscribed. This is incredibly slut shamey and whorephobic.

Very well stated Lauren!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👌🏾

You look like an old grandpa with that short hair- it doesn't suit you and make your face looks bigger, nose flatter ad mouth nore protruding and massive. I think longer hair would look much better on you.

Great series!

least favorite one. Breast pain issues make make wearing bras push me to rip my breasts off. being braless has been the only way (after 300 bra try ons). I simply do no support nipples and/or see the shape of breasts "trashy". If I have to be trashy to deal with my (and many others) breast so be it. This was a good series, but I just can't support/live that.
Rin Wesley (7 months ago)
Thank you! I love this episode of the series because it's so honest. Yes, I used to dress like that when I was young because I got attention. For some reason I used to get pilloried for even admitting this. You may not be a ho, but if you dress in a ho's uniform you can't really complain when someone gets the wrong idea.
Blind Mike Luttrell (7 months ago)
You're absolutely right. From a man's perspective, I don't even find it attractive. Labia minor, minor cleavage foreign minister that still covers. I'm man enough to admit that, but anything's further is a turn off.

I think of the "street walking Sally" as the type of woman who doesn't understand how to use the power that her looks and her body have over men. Like she knows she has that power, but she's overcompensating and like you said it just attracts the type of men that no one really wants to be around. It makes her feminine power feel cheap because she never gets anything long term out of it. The men she attracts will leave her quickly for the next trashy looking girl, and the ability to look perfect in skin tight mini dresses fades over time. No one takes her seriously for anything. The right way to use this type of look is sparingly, and usually to help you in making a man who is already attracted to you for being your awesome self, even more attracted to you once he sees how sexy you can be just for him. Anyone who says they dress that way for themselves and it's not about men is 100% lying to themselves. We all know instinctively that men are sexually attracted to women's bodies. The more you show, the more he's going to want to have sex with you. This is just the reality of it, it's just nature. It's all well and good to want that dream world where you can do literally anything you want and there won't be any negative consequences, but we live in a real world. Deal with it.

rosethorn0232 every girl I have ever known who dresses this way has serious self esteem issues. They’re too scared to leave the house without 10 layers of make up. It’s pretty sad.

Yes! YES! When I look at girls like this either in real life or social media, I just roll my eyes REAL BIG and think to myself, “why the hell are you wearing your 8 year old sisters dress! Give it back! Give it back right now!” I wonder if this anti-style also originated with the Kardashians... 🤢🤮

Is it wrong that I’m dying laughing at the title alone? 😂 Anyway, I wish this particular video could be broadcast on a loop to middle school and high school girls so they don’t even go down this route.

This is my least favorite part of the series. Some people don't dress for men. Why can't people celebrate their bodies without being accused of "daddy issues".
klj788986sbb (7 months ago)
Lol when women dress like that they are definitely dressing for men. I don’t mean she’s looking to get laid, but she definitely wants the approval.
Alejandra Garcia (7 months ago)
It happens to men too. My brother was a little overweight and dressed like a cholo. Now, he looks more sharp and has more success with women. We want to show to the world the best version of ourselves not our skeletons in the closet before we even meet.
Nerderer (7 months ago)
exactly you answered your own question it sucks that people can't celebrate their bodies without being accused of "daddy issues" it really does suck but it does happen to come to mind to some people. This isn't to tell people to change this is to show people that want to change for themselves = how.
kokolatte825 (8 months ago)
Teneisha Dean well I guess a woman can celebrate her body without it looking...over the top. Some may even argue that dressing like an off duty stripper is not necessarily celebrating your body. But oh well.
Teneisha Dean (8 months ago)
I did not say she did. I was questioning why that was the first thing that comes to mind. It was a general comment.
lestrange (8 months ago)
I think the trick to tasteful sexiness is to pick ONE thing to show, and then sort of cover the rest. So like if you want to show a lot of cleavage in an outfit, you can do it but then cover your ass and legs. Or wear tight pants with a looser top. Pick ONE. When people try to go tight and revealing on top and bottom, when they are displaying tits and ass and the whole candy store, then it starts to look like adult video awards show red carpet.

And if your gonna wear a tight dress then make sure it fits your body well and yes cover up the cleavage and it can hit you below the knee because it's form fitting.
lestrange (8 months ago)
The woman at 1:46 I wouldn't have categorized her as this type. A turtleneck sweater plus a jacket is very covered up. Her shorts are more like bermuda length, not too short and not skin tight. Is it just because she is braless?
yurinha schmidt (8 months ago)
lestrange I think the bra-less look falls under this category, but probably not everyone agrees :)

This was so spot on in the analysis yrs truly formerly sexy sexy ;)

Holly Cumming (8 months ago)
I'm curious why the last photo is street walk Sally? Is it the combination of no bra AND the shorts? It took me by surprise!
kokolatte825 (8 months ago)
Holly Cumming I think it was the combination of things because honestly my eye went to the cut offs with boots pairing. I noticed the braless part last. I do think you have to wear a bra to work but, in your social life I think you can go braless if that's what you want to do. I don't think it'll make you look like a "Sally".
Holly Cumming (8 months ago)
I'm not sure how I feel about no bra being considered trashy. I've worn bras most of my life but recently have been exploring how I feel not wearing any! I think I'll end up switching to really soft stretchy non wired bras. But it's interesting how we just put up with the discomfort of wearing standard wired bras to make sure we look "professional" for example. I'm kinda torn because I value my own comfort very highly. But I also want to look good! Playing with the balance I guess!
kokolatte825 (8 months ago)
I think so. The shorts weren't too short but, they were cut offs. That doesn't have to be bad but coupled with the high boots just looks tacky and no bra to top it all off. A mess.
eizhowa (8 months ago)
Martita 28 I would argue that cowboy boots and frayed shorts will always be tacky.
eizhowa (8 months ago)
Holly Cumming probably the Dukes of Hazzards combination of shorts, cowboy boots and no bra.

Loved this series! And yes you did save the best for last. Great lesson in this one for sure! My style has changed since boring Betty lol and so did my attitude and self-esteem so inspire of the negative comments you get, this series IS helpful 😊

Ps. You are not the opposite of sexy, Girl! You always look put together and comfortable in your own skin. That's beautiful!

To quote Simon Doonan: "Say "no" to hoe."
R M (8 months ago)
Agree!! I don't care if you have the "body" or not!! It looks trashy and cheap and like the woman doesn't respect herself if she wears clothes like this when not going to a club or in vegas. It's tawdry and doesn't look good. I'm sick of the obsession with being "thick" it's encouraging women to dress like this. Nonono!

Is it possible that some of us who have lost the connection to our femininity overcompensate by overemphasizing our curves with plunging necklines, molded dresses and spike heels?
life And Lipstick Green (8 months ago)
I am a new subbie and right now this is my go to channel a couple of days ago I binge watched your videos LOL and I love them! But I have a question how do you dress When you’re a stylist hairstylist in your 50s and no longer want that trendy look I want to go back to my classic wear but how do I keep it edgy ? And thank you.
Don't dream it - sew it! (8 months ago)
That was a great last video, Lauren! It really (sadly) is a common anti-style type, I feel like 2/3 of the girls I went to school with had a phase like this - and the bad thing in such a situation is that even if you're right and dressing appropriately you'll feel bad about it and unstylish because it's not the normal... so great you addressed it, now I know it wasn't a mistake to hold on to my cleavage covering tops and long skirts. It's a bit sad that this series has come to an end, they were my favourite videos to watch here on YouTube over the last weeks. Great series!
whitwhit87 (8 months ago)
Yes omg....like even if you have the body...dont wear it. There's other ways to be sexy without showing too much skin. You can be sexy just by showing collar bones, a tiny bit of stomach, sheer shirts, etc...

This was a great series. Sorry to see it end. Perhaps you'll revisit it later. There are always plenty of style rehabs to be addressed.
Mea G. (8 months ago)
This was my favorite part of this series. I used to be street walking Sally lol. But when I was that, I thought myself "but I feel powerful and confident like this, why should I change" but the truth is, these girls who dress like this, they aren't actually powerful or confident at all. I have already changed my style (your videos helped a lot too!) and now I feel actually what it feels to be a confident and powerful woman. I know many people might say on this video negative words, but I know from experience it worth to change, and be open minded about what Lauren says, because it makes sense.
Edwina Monsoon (8 months ago)
This series is so good. 😊 You give great, honest advise without being disrespectful, but you don't sugarcoat things. THANK YOU!!!
