No Country for Old Men is a 2007 American thriller written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, based on the Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name.
The film stars Tommy Lee Jones, Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin, and tells the story of an ordinary man to whom chance delivers a fortune that is not his, and the ensuing cat-and-mouse drama, as three men crisscross each other's paths in the desert landscape of 1980 West Texas. Themes of fate, conscience and circumstance re-emerge that the Coen brothers have previously explored in Blood Simple and Fargo.
In the 2007 film No Country for Old Men, Anton Chigurh, played by Javier Bardem, cleans and stitches his own wounds with stolen supplies, after his leg is badly injured by a shotgun blast. He first disinfects the site of the injury with a solution of iodine, then injects an anesthetic (lidocaine) before suturing the wound.

rockdj8566 you dumbass. Of course he has money to buy medicine. But to fix a bullet wound or to use drugs as he does, you can’t just show up at the pharmacy like this and buy whatever you want. To get all those products without medic or question he has to steal it. He is a hitman. He was wounded. He can’t just go to doc or hospital to get fixed. Bullet wounds or bullet injuries have to be déclaré to police, always. That’s the law.
I think he taped the paper cover from the bag to close the opening of the gas tank, in order for it to take more time to explode. So that the fire must burn through the paper (and possibly cotton balls) first.
I still wonder how this film got a 15 certificate. The amount of bloody violence, and shots of violent body trauma and injury, in my opinion move it towards the 18 mark. A low 18 admittedly but an 18 none the less. I have similar feelings about The Dark Knight and TDKR.
Because ratings are shit at judging psycological violence, they just have a simple checklist.
Here you have a few wounds, deaths but nothing really hardcore, the violence all comes from the coldness of the killings rather than the killings themselves.
Jasper. Javier Bardem Heeft Vandaag Heel Veel Pijn. Hij Moet Eerst De Auto Vuur Aansteken En Daarna Ontploft De Auto. En Dan Gaat Hij Naar Mike Zoss Pharmacy Gaan Om Cotton Te Kopen En Daarna Gaat Hij Naar Huis Om Te Kunnen Genezen Te Worden. Een Spuit Met Groen Geneesvervuling Tweezers En Cottonbalen Om De Woontjes En Bloed Eraf Te Doen. Daarna Een Gipsband En Wit Handoek En Daarna Zet Javier Barden De Tv Uit. En Laatste Spuitprikje Met Groen Geneesvervuling En Daarna Is Javier Bardem Klaar En Genezen
MY BOY A BD ON FUCKIN LAMRON AND THEM this is where you are wrong kiddo. This guys purpose ain’t to take whatever he wants in pharmacy, but just what he needs to fix himself up as he can’t go to the doctor or to hospital. One flask of this, one pack of that, who gonna notice ? He is a professional. If he start to pick up whatever he wants it’s a much bigger risk and pointless for him
+Sandro Bindelli I am really interested in Italian Military. My Grandfather fought For the Italian Army in World War 1 and was wounded. I would love to ask you a few questions if that is ok with you. Please.
Injections don't hurt
I had cancer for ex; yada yada yada had to get a Picc Line inserted in my arm, awake the whole time, and no it does not hurt
If you think about and contemplate it, your working yourself up for pain. But no it don't hurt
0:40- 0:55 this is such a great shot because it visually shows the audience what is happening and whats gonna happen ie chigurhs leg wound, the car he is going to blow up, no exposition needed it is done in complete silence and splitting the frame into 2 parts gives an aestheticly pleasing look, good work joel/ethan coen
Don't get me wrong....I like this guy a lot lol but to the one who called him a badass for not looking back at the explosion you can't call him a true badass for that cause he's the one who made the car blow up...why would he look back...obviously not his first time B-)
I think an antibiotic injection is a logical conclusion being that he already injected Lidocaine into the area, which would provide enough pain relief for a few hours. Plus, the leap could be easily made considering he grabbed a bottle of distilled water and iodine and he boiled his tweezers. That showed Anton's basic knowledge of the seriousness of infection. Impossible to say what antibiotic it was, but this could be a possibility (Rocephin). http://tinyurl.com/hxj5tv6 It would seem to fit the kind of wound and Staph bacteria Anton was probably concerned about. I see cellulitis listed as a condition for its use, an external layer kind of infection.
+MrJgstoner Yah,if ya just gotta, true you can find what is needed at vet. spots, and yes anywhere large mammals are treated like zoos. only do this stuff if your on the run like him,and avoiding law enforcement. I have never had to do anything this drastic, but I have done similar things for head wounds.
Not everybody has the same constitution, morphine did not work for me,barely felt it.
In a lot of ways this is the scene that demonstrates how he ultimately gets what's coming to him in the end with his final injury. He can't go to the hospital and his mental state doesn't give him anyone to lean on. Granted, he's psychotic enough to where it doesn't matter. "If the rule you follow has led you here, what good was the rule?"
think the dream speech counters what some people think is the nihilistic tone of the movie. I don't think it's nihilistic. The sheriff is beaten at the end but then he has a dream that his father has passed him on the road (died before him) and lights a fire for him in the dark, so that even in death he will be waiting for him. Or that the light never goes out. That's the obvious interpretation but the language is really good.
I think the difference is that with nazis their was statism and deontoligical beliefs that Hitler used to rise to power.
Anton doesn't have a following. I say the west because the film is ultimately, to me, about lawlessness. The only reason the sherriff survived at the end was because he didn't reckon with Anton.
This film (And book I imagine) is a beautiful piece of art because it is open ended. The sherriff got to survive precisely because he had the gut instinct not to reckon with senselessness. Llewelyn died because he decided to spend a night drinking and cheating on his wife. It just happened that way, though. The ultimate message I take from the film is that all violence is senseless. That's why the speech with his friend at the end of the film is so important to the crux of the movie. Particularly the line "anything else is vanity." Llewelyn (Younger and egotistical) stopped caring about the money and his wife. It became about his pride and it got him in the end. Anton got his in the end either way as everyone ultimately does. It could be a car crash or a murder.
I still seek to interpret the dream speech, though I get what it's saying. It's a poetic movement of a film at its core.
I wouldn't say 'The West', but humanity in general has a capacity for violence which can be reduced or unleashed depending on the individual or the circumstances.
Interesting point about Anton. Cold-blooded killers are often losers, when you get right down to it. Hitler is of course the byword for merciless brutality and he was a sad sack mess of neuroses and frustrations who took it out on everyone - even himself at the end. You can find similar elements in the personalities of other notorious villains of history. Killers like Anton are much like them, just with a lower body count.
+Leone Furlan yes pretty cool.///.theres a movie 20 times better than this maybe youve seen it! Its about Mark Brandon Reads Life ..its called CHOPPER. if you havent seen it your mssing out big time,, its on youtube read the comments go from there ..
+Serendra Hardu The point is that the whole movie he has been portrayed as an immortal monster that the main character cannot escape from. Him having to treat his own wound shows how much human he actually is .
+John Edward The problem with going to the hospital is that he has a gunshot wound - hospitals have to report every firearms injury to the police. As for the self surgery, I don't see why not. It's already been made clear this guy is pretty much a badass, and the only real roadblock to performing this self surgery would be the exquisite pain of having buckshot in your thigh.

Bricolajul a ajuns in Romania in urma cu aproximativ 10 ani, insa in Statele Unite si in statele occidentale acest concept este mai vechi, si isi are originile la inceputul anilor ’50.
Catalog Dedeman, Catalog Praktiker, Catalog Baumax, Catalog Bricostore, Catalog Ambient si altii.
